I think a loss definitely opens up the committee to be able to point to the 1 loss difference and go with the more convenient option of putting Arizona in the West as the 1 and Tennessee in the South or Midwest.

Lunardi on GameDay essentially saying that a loss puts Arizona ahead of Tennessee, not just "today" but "going forward." I agree with @Stoerner Fumbles and @bleedingTNorange that losing today gives the committee an easy way of slotting Arizona as 1W, but it will be complete ******** if Arizona goes one round farther than Tennessee in their weak-ass conference tournament and gets the nod as a result.

He's essentially pulling for a Tennessee loss to save face from failing to acknowledge what everyone else has seen coming. Arizona's résumé is a house of cards because of how terrible the Pac12 is this year. Zero opportunities left to get a win that will impress the committee, and Tennessee is closing out with four Q1 opportunities. They blew their only two interconference opportunities vs WSU, they have two Q2 losses, and a Q3 loss. Like I said a week ago, they do not control their own destiny. Joe is easing into that idea like an ice bath given his prior hot take about the strength of their lead for that last 1-seed.

If Duke beats UNC today, they will likely get a #2 seed, which would put them elsewhere, since we’ll be out West as a #1 and Arizona would be our #2.

If Duke loses today, they’ll likely be a #3, which could put them in our region.

I think Duke will get a three seed and in same region. Personally, I don’t like the matchup and wouldn’t surprise me if the game would be called tighter. It doesn’t matter now as time will tell. Call it a hunch- plus I despise Duke as I was a UNC fan as a kid in the 70’s and 80’s.

I became a diehard TN fan after transferring to UT in 1992, and my blood bleeds orange.

If we’re a #1 and they’re a #3, the earliest we could see them would be in a Regional Final. Both of us may not make it that far. One game at a time - I’m not scared of anybody.

Texas rounding right into form it seems. Hopefully they can get up to the 7 seed line over the next week.

Yep, today gives them the ammunition to put us on the 2 line without there being any backlash nationally. I think this is what they all wanted.

I agree but even if we hadn’t lost and they put Arizona as the 1 anyway, there would’ve been no backlash from the national sports media. They’d have defended the decision tooth and nail

It is actually boiling my blood seeing some of the takes about our seeding by our fans online. It shouldn’t, but it does. There are fans that are not upset that we lost because they think the 2-line is better than the 1-line. Idiots. All of them. Makes me sick. I’m sorry, but it does. Can’t understand why so many have almost actively rooted against TN because they don’t want a 1. I’m hot right now because of the loss, but seeing that crap makes it worse.
