2024 Recruiting Thread

As an FYI, sc says they pay that. And just follow boost her club on any social media and you will find your answers. They sponsor 40 athletes across all sports and no not everyone earns the same as different sports and athletes have different values nd some may he willing to do more work for the money.

The question to me is should wbb move under Vol Club perhaps to get bigger dollars? The mission of boost her club is great but unfortunately most fans join and pour money into our male athletes over females which saddens me. I get it football is king. Wbb should be a major draw for anyone to support esp at UT
WBB at SC pays each player the same, $25k. Don’t know about the other athletes.

Yes. The NIL collective paid our end of the bench player 25k and the same for Boston. It’s our base pay. But of course the Bostons of the team get much more from their individual NIL deals.

Every recruit and opponent knows our “base pay,” it’s up to the player to crack the starting lineup to lead to bigger individual deals.

Do they have any obligations (beyond the usual team appearances, etc) to get the "base pay". Or is it just plain ole pay for play?

In the University context, 20 to 25K is around what grad students (usually PhD but sometimes masters students) get in support for being Teaching assistants (TAs) or research assistants (RAs), as well as having their tuition covered.

The demands of playing a D1 sport are quite high so that level of salary does not seem outrageous.

As you know, NILS are a way for the NCAA to avoid paying athletes from athletic departments own revenue streams. I am impressed that SC has been able to lock in this kind of base support.

Can someone remind me of the rules for how many official visits a player can take?

I looked through Mikayla’s Instagram and she’s had visits at 3 schools from her top 7. Those schools were Rutgers, Indiana, and Vanderbilt. Looks like we’re her 4th visit. Would love to see her become a LV4L!
The rule changed in November to unlimited number of schools but only one official per school. In theory if you wanted to visit 30 schools, you could now. It was previously five.

Pretty sure no limit. Only one official per school though.

Again my point is that is what they say they pay them. I would question that though. Just saying.
I hear you, but in this case nahh, it‘s a shallow pool of funds for this and it’s strictly 25k each, but as someone said above, the better players are connected to NIL opportunities like many places now.

duh.. I guess you don't ask about your salary then.

Precisely my point. The overweening arrogance and sense of entitlement in thinking a kid should not ask about what he will be paid (while the coaches and rest of us would not think of taking a job without doing so) is absolutely breathtaking.

And in most cases, we aren't risking what these kids are as far as injuries.

The athletes have been exploited, and their rights to market themselves have been violated since the NCAA was formed. All so coaches and schools could grow fat off their labor.

It was way past time for all of that to come to an end.

I agree with your point that players should get paid, but that would be from a college their room, board and a free education. The NCAA is still controlling that colleges can't pay an actual salary to players at least legally. The NIL part would be totally unknown by the school as that is a variable based on what companies or others wanted to pay the player for access to their name. No way a school can answer what a player can make with NIL unless it was a projection. Of course I know where your coming from with coaches already having money lined up and deals already in place for players to get them to sign. That is the part of NIL I don't like cause how much is the name of an unproven freshmen actually worth in the beginning? Still I agree players have the right to ask what they are going to get in the beginning and that would have to be guaranteed not a projection. Lining up deals for players to sign is the new reality of college athletics and you better be a player if you intend to be one that is going to be successful going forward as a winner.

Can someone start a new 2024 recruiting thread Lmao… we have recruits on campus and all I see are poster blabbering about NIL

Lol , I hear ya but it won't be me 😂

To get this back to recruiting I do have a question. So does Blakes get to go to Big Orange Madness, The volleyball game (which was packed), AND the football game today? If so dang she and the 25' recruit Johnson picked the right weekend 😂

Yes and after all that she doesn't commit guess we need to move on cause she is getting it all. Everything we got.

Thank you. There is an NIL thread I started. I tried to use it but literally no one commented.

It would depend on her 48 hour clock. Def market square madness and volleyball, football depends on when she got here Thurs. Looks like they are having bunch at kellie's this am.

We have that the Lady Vol boost her club, but we don't tell what the players get. It all depends on the donations that are received. I figure it is at least 25 K as football or men's programs are in no way a part of it. They have their on collective. Then there are the individual deals of which I know Tess, Tamari. Sarah, and Rickea who has an enormous amount all have deals. I don't about any others sure they exists.

I'm actually thinking she will take all of her visits ... I saw a great interview with her and she had a mind beyond basketball! She is researching schools to help her be a doctor. Which is why i think you see the variety of schools that we see and maybe not your traditional power house schools.

I really want this kid! But i think it's more than about basketball for her ... i'm just hoping TN can be her home

I just posted one:
