2024 Target List

Good to have, but not essential IMO. When everybody else is good at moving the ball effectively then the need for the traditional PG isn’t as critical. It’s going to be that second pass (after the inbounds pass) that they’d need to be well coached to handle. Good spacing. Being aware of the defensive positioning. Don’t get trapped. Keep the ball moving. And hit the dam free throws. Experience helps a great deal in those scenarios. This year we’d have Awaka, Aidoo, Mayshack, JJJ, and Santi. Next year could be a problem after losing at least JJJ and SV.
I kind of wonder why nobody does 40 minutes of hell anymore like Arkansas in the 90's. Or even extends pressure half court. Every defense seems to be content to play man to man (except Temple maybe) beginning around the three point line. It seems there used to be so much more pressure on the ball and pressure on guards to get the ball into their offense than there is now. I know games evolve but I wonder if a young aggressive coach brought back pressure if guards could respond since it would be so unusual now.

I’d guess risk reward evaluations. How many turnovers are generated versus easy breakaway scores? Is it more effective to fall back into a half court defense and to turn up the pressure over the 30 second clock? Especially with an even shorter shot clock than there was in the 90s.

Plus, 40 minutes of it twice a week and your team is going to be spent well before the post season rolls around. And injuries occur more often when players are tired.

Even Bruce has scaled it way back. He used to apply more pressure than he has recently.

NIL might have helped put an end to it. It’s now very difficult to concentrate an overwhelming amount of athleticism on just a single team. Rosters are more balanced with great players spread over dozens of teams instead of blue bloods and only a couple more hoarding all the talent.

It would be an interesting approach for a marginal P-6 or MM to unleash it in the post season. Maybe create the momentum to advance deep into the NCAAT.

Thanks, wonder if that interview was a little older since he’s gotten a few offers since…I would think we will push for a visit.

There was mention of hearing from other schools, so it was certainly implied that he ia open to others. I think the interviewer didn't have the wherewithal to ask about any other schools specifically.

Assuming we push hard it’s hard not to think we’ve got a good shot at him along those schools.
I guess Wake mildly concerns me. Forbes is a good recruiter, Boswell is from NC, and we had similar confidence in Juke Harris against his list of other suitors. And unlike Harris, we are late to the game in this one.

Yea that’s likely fair, hopefully the kid values winning more than that.

JMO but the rise of Georgetown is not good for the Vols, we benefitted some with them being down. They are going to be a pain with Ed Cooley

I'm hoping he thought that Georgia, "G" was a Georgetown, "G", on Boswell's list. Other than that, "Huh?"
yeah I was confused, I just know Georgetown was our top competition for Austin Swartz and then I thought Bishop Boswell had Georgetown in his top 6. They have the #3 recruiting class so they are making waves.

They're #3 on 24-7 because they have 3 early commits from 4 stars. It might turn out to be a great class but it's not that far from the level of guys they had been bringing in under Ewing.

Hoping we can snag all 3 of Boswell, Swartz, and McCarty.

Nice, long athletic 1-3. All those guys are 6’4+
