It's been that way for three straight cycles. We still end up with good players, but very few were primary focuses, and instead, guys we had to pivot to after the fact.Weird, seems like the staff is having trouble keepin traction with any 2024 recruit. Just don’t make much sense

Now maybe Ramey is correct and we backed off, but why? His ranking continues to go up but we backed off??? Doesn't really pass the sniff test, to me, but we'll see. Airious Bailey, Ahmad Nowell, Austin Swartz, Somto Cyril, Juke Harris, Tyler McKinley...I'm sure I'm missing some. Same thing last year and in 2022, as well.

I know this for a fact the kid said we lead before the peach jam so to not make his top 8 was clearly a staff decision. It's been that way for three straight cycles. We still end up with good players, but very few were primary focuses, and instead, guys we had to pivot to after the fact.

I mean, he literally OV'd a month ago. What at the Peach Jam made them just suddenly cut bait that they hadn't already seen or discussed? Maybe he did shoot someone in the alley. You’re right on the money, the last 3 cycles we have missed on our primary targets. We still end up with great players and prospects, but missing out on Wallace and then Edwards to Kentucky in back to back years really hurt. At least it’s promising to know that we still end up pretty well in terms of recruiting, but it is strange that we would back off here. It's been that way for three straight cycles. I just don't buy that. Unless they saw him shoot a guy in the alley or dealing drugs by the dumpster at the Peach Jam, there is nothing from a culture perspective to be gleaned that shouldn't have already been discovered by the staff in the year they've been recruiting him.
I don’t know this but haven’t seen it mentioned so another theory, maybe he had handlers who were very vocal at Peach Jam about shopping him? We will give NIL but we all know that Rick isn’t going to want a kid just because he’s the highest bidder, that’s not a game we wants to play. That just doesn't make sense given they had 48 hours together with him a month ago for an OV, and then suddenly at a summer AAU event they immediately fall out of love with him to the point of backing off enitrely? That is just interesting to me.
Just odd that it would suddenly manifest itself at Peach Jam. Where were those kinds of requests at his OV? I'd understand our backing off if it came off his OV, but coming off of the Peach Jam a month after his OV, just very odd timing for it to be a staff decision.I don’t know this but haven’t seen it mentioned so another theory, maybe he had handlers who were very vocal at Peach Jam about shopping him? I don’t disagree, but he also just recently listed Tennessee among his leaders, top schools etc etc and I don’t see Ramey lying, so I tend to lean that Tennessee backed off as the most likely scenario for whatever the reason may be.Just odd that it would suddenly manifest itself at Peach Jam.
