2024 Target List

And your opinion is also that nothing was going on behind the scenes, so I was genuinely curious what you thought happened? I’ve criticized Barnes, I can provide examples if need be but you’re smarter than that, with that said when it comes to roster management and this specific instance I don’t feel it was deserving of criticism…your insinuations seem to suggest you disagree, that’s fine, you’re entitled to that option.

Did I say that, though?

I'm sure you've kept the receipts on anything I said in that regard, so feel free to correct me, but I believe I merely questioned how odd it would have been for something to have suddenly manifested itself in that regard that hadn't been noticed in his recruitment and the leadup to his OV, or in the time after. Not that I firmly held the opinion that "nothing possibly could have gone on behind the scenes", as you've attributed to me. I typically try and stay away from absolutes in situations where I am speculating, myself.

This makes me chuckle considering you are the biggest “Bruiner” on this forum, you notoriously go on and on insisting on the last word over something quite foolish.

Shocking. I have opinions attacked and I respond to the critics.

All you need to do is read through your last dozen posts above to see how foolish you are. Yet again.

He did give Chris hell for one sentence, forever. But hell, in the immortal words of Simply Red, "if you don't know me by now, then you will never, ever, ever know me", or something like that. I quoted Simply Red and they probably covered it

Haven't heard much on Del Jones in a while. I'm assuming he is the backup plan if we miss on Boswell?

Also, so just to make sure I'm correct, we are in Boswell Top 6, Compton Top 5, and then McCarty hasn't released top schools yet but we will be in it when he does.

Does Compton pushing his OV out cause any concern there?

Believe those are all correct, and assuming he still takes that OV no, I don’t think it’s an issue.

You are likely not old enough to know the song was originally done by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes with Teddy Pendergrass on the lead vocals. It was originally written for Patti LaBelle but it was reported that she originally declined to record it. The lyrics are Kenny Gamble and Leon Huffs words if you want to be accurate and they also joined in doing background vocals. I am not dismissing Simply Red. Very talented. I personally prefer the original. The raw raspy baritone of Teddy gives the song a very distinctive quality.

Thank you and I was pretty sure it was a cover, but doesn't get any better than Teddy Pendergrass, at 52, even I know that

Bump, anyone with On3 sub??
“I would say they made a really good impression on me,” Boswell said of his takeaways following his visit. “They’ve got a legendary head coach and I really like the staff.

“You can tell that the coaches really care about the guys. They obviously want them to get better as players, but everyone, coaches and players, are tight off the court as well.”
Two time SEC Player of the Year Grant Williams who signed as a free agent with the Dallas Mavericks this summer, happens to be from Boswell’s hometown of Charlotte and also happened to be in Knoxville this weekend himself.
“Grant Williams reached out to me a couple of weeks ago when he heard that I was going to be visiting Tennessee and we talked about that Charlotte connection,” Boswell shared.

“We talked some this weekend, just about his experience at Tennessee, what it was like to play there and just about the recruiting process in general. He was a really cool guy.”
“I thought Coach Barnes was hilarious,” he said. “He’s just really easy to talk to and loves to joke around. Now, when he’s on the floor with the team he’s serious, all about the work, but when he’s off the court he’s ready to move on and just have a good time with his players and joke around.”
“You can tell that they have a good culture there, a winning culture,” he said. “They have a bunch of gym rats on that team, guys that are going to work hard and aren’t going to get in trouble off the court.”
“I’m still considering all those schools that I’ve visited. I’m hoping to make a decision in late September,” Boswell said of his timetable.

I always find it interesting how quite literally every single recruit talks about how “hilarious” Barnes is.
I agree. You only have to be around Rick for a couple of minutes to see his sense of humor come out. IMO he's as good as I've seen being ALL business on the floor and TOTALLY turning it off - off the floor. I remember when we won the SEC tournament couple of years ago... inside a minute left in the game and JJJ MADE Rick give him a hug and both laughing at Rick's reluctance to "let it go and enjoy it". I too think its interesting how the recruits are stunned by how funny he is.
