Curious what the situation is with Mabor. Sounded like he was going to be the developmental big. Seems to have gone quiet there.

The compilation also includes important info from BTO, and some others here perhaps. It is a really good summary of the best posts on this board on this subject.

(That is, until Basilio just can't help himself and drops on his own initiative the "what kind of stomach Tennessee is going to have" bit and the "egg on the face" clincher. And the 10 scholarships be-very-afraid line. I rolled my eyes at that.)

Unless I am miscounting, I count 6 returning players (Ziegler, Gainey, Mashack, Estrella, Carr and Phillips), 1 incoming freshman (Boswell) and 3 transfers (Dubar, Okpara and Milicic - all signed).

That's ten.

Not only will we lose on Lanier, all contingencies and add no one, but also lose a player expected to return?

Which player do you not see coming / coming back?

Cool. I need to find his number. He is down to earth and I enjoyed hanging out with him on the court when my son played. I think I last saw him in Nashville when TN beat State at the SEC tourney. It’s been a minute though, about 10 -12 yrs

I love Rick Barnes, but he doesn't always have a plan. Yuri Collins. I still wouldn't trade CRB for anyone, but no one is infallible, not even Coach Barnes. We made promises that we kept, Lanier made promises he didn't keep. The transfer portal/NCAA mess was beyond his control, but hiring an agent and shopping himself was not. Hopefully it works out for us, but keeping our word and not recruiting anyone else at his position could come back to bite us in the ass. Personally, I feel like once he broke his word, we were no longer obliged to honor ours. But CRB is a better man than I.

I think we had backup plans for Collins iirc. We just whiffed on all of those too.

Yeah the guy that has five 25-win seasons out of the past 7 years doesn’t always have a plan. Yeah, ok 👍

I wonder how soon Lanier will let UT know that he theoretically wouldn't visit if he does not want to visit, given the UK and UT visits are practically back-to-back. Just seems unlikely and honestly would be weird if he made up his mind that quickly after the UK visit.

But, this whole recruitment has thrown a number of curveballs so wouldn't be surprised if another one comes at this point.
