2024 Transfer Portal Thread

I think there are a lot of individuals on this board that owe BTO and SF apologies. Especially if we get Lanier this weekend like they said we would all along. The hostility showed towards them before a decision was even made was ridiculous. They come in here with really good information and most of the time it’s accurate. When they miss it’s not because they didn’t know something, but because something changed. Just like during this entire process! In the end though everyone else is eating crow that called them out and bad mouthed them. I for one thank BTO and SF for their information, and their large amount of patience that they all must possess for putting up with some of y’all’s crap.

There are always people here who are jealous of insiders. It burns them up that they aren’t privy to the same info so they crap on the insiders and don’t believe they can even exist. It’s a strange mental illness. Just be glad folks are sharing info geez.

Ive mentioned before, and said again last week, that the information chain goes down two roads. From player to handler to placed insider. From NIL member to big donor to friends. Typically, staff doesn’t comment on anything unless it is confirming or denying existing rumors. They usually avoid even that. When someone like BTO or me gets info, it is typically from the chain of donors or services who work with NIL. None of them share until the circle of confidentiality has been breached. I’m sure BTO will confirm that his friends will often say, “I can’t share that yet” or “You can’t share this yet”. The best way to get on the outside of a circle is to share when you’ve been asked not to.

Today, I’ve been asked to not comment on Lanier. I won’t. I probably don’t even need to given what I’ve already said. Take that as you will.

Tells me Vol

Thanks.

I choose to believe we got him.

If we can snag Tankersly and get him to RS, that would be a great finish.
Tears of joy...tears of sorrow.....either way, I suspect we gonna see some serious water works from you when the decision drops.

I’m finding the 180 by Kentucky mods hysterical…

Newest take is that Barnes was bad mouthing Lanier at the EYBL events this past weekend and saying they didn’t think he was worth the price, which is why the Kentucky side then felt he was theirs. Supposedly saying how bad of a defender he is and how he’s got nowhere near the work ethic of Knecht or what the staff wants. But apparently this was some elaborate attempt to drive his asking price down 😂😂😂 But when that didn’t happen Tennessee offered far and away the highest NIL number and Kentucky then were the ones who decided Lanier wasn’t worth it.

Lmao, this is legit coming from Jack Pilgrim on their KSR board.

Yes, the kid who cried after losing to Purdue and said he can’t believe he won’t be coached by Barnes anymore was definitely “bad mouthed” by Barnes in public. 😂😂😂

I take this as he's pretty much a lock at this point, especially given the doom and gloom from the UK insiders.

I'm not saying inside information doesn't leak out or that you and BTO don't have access in some way. The old saying paraphrased...if more than one person knows something, it's not a secret rings true. But the numbers of these "insiders" is insane. Just not buying that the decision makers are putting so much info into the hands of so many...unless it's disinformation, and who has the time for that? I mean they're busy enough just doing their jobs. Why waste time planting seeds on message boards? Makes no sense to me. And how far into the organization do coaches allow access to the recruiting workings and NIL details? How many people know the complete picture? Is the circle that large? I'd have to think not. And if the information gets out, it certainly won't be hard to narrow down the list of suspects. And we've all seen coaches keep commitments "quiet" so that the kid has his "moment". That tells me they do have some control over what gets out. Or is it just certain things they're able to keep quiet? By nature, I'm a seeing is believing guy. So I take all these types of things with a healthy dose of skepticism.

Lots of cope coming from the blue team about them losing a recruiting battle to us. I don’t think that happened once in the entire Calipari era.

I think it's wise to doubt until something is confirmed. You've obviously established your MO as the guy who expects nothing and is never let down. That's fine. It's true that the information might be wrong, or it might change. Either is possible. I am just pointing out that the leaks these days are almost never from staff. Handlers leak for cause. Donors leak to flex their money and reputation among their lackey pals. Introducing NIL means that the donors want information early since they gave a pile of money. Typically they get it, but not at a time where they might cause harm. They like to let their friends know they know. That obviously isn't every donor. I find that the big donors have other things to do.

Because it’s Tennessee and not Ky, not the distance. Tennessee is home and that state line means something.
i remember those days, but Nashville has seen a crazy amount of growth. Don't know if it's a majority, but I suspect there's a ton of recruits in Nashville who's families have zero pride or loyalty to the state or UT. Not saying Lanier is one of those. Honestly don't know, but I just don't think "state pride" means anything these days.

Well their biggest insider is saying UK outbid UT and it didn't matter in the end.

I'll believe that before this crap.

Reasonable. Makes me question veracity especially if the source is a handler or a kids agent/family. Goes to motive. Donors looking for cred? I can buy that. When you got the kind of money those guys do, ego is a powerful drug I suppose.

IF IN FACT HE IS A VOL——-

I just hope these guys know and feel free to share the relationship between CRB and Lanier THROUGHOUT the process. Was the lack of opening up a public wider search due to the stability and trust between them from the NBA interaction forward a real thing? Is it possible that any deal with UT was limited or excluded from the agent’s agreement as a going in bird in hand?

It still does!!! Especially now that sports are back healthy at UT. That was the issue alot of kids just wanna be around winning. That was the main reason that they were leaving cause the lack of. Now that the winning culture is back kids that grew up seeing everything orange are less likely to leave. NIL helps too but winning help marketing and deals come. Then if you're the reason we are winning then you become Dalton Knecht and you make way more than you were promised.
