2024 Transfer Portal Thread

Based on the other schools chasing him too must be talented. Battling Duke, UNC, UK will be tough.
Not trying to be a homer, but UT is more attractive for a guy like him than Kentucky is, with the circus there and guys coming in/staying.
I also think, and not trying to be a homer, UT is just as good of a program currently than UNC or Duke. What do they offer that UT doesn’t? (Unless it’s just more money)

"Blue Blood Status" whatever that means.

I don’t think it means much to kids today, but jmo. But yeah, there is that. I think this season has put spotlight on UT’s program and Barnes that will help in bringing in players.

Maybe this is a hot take but Coach K’s little Prince at a Duke would be in a pivotal year next year had Shead not gotten hurt in that game.

Something to this effect needs to be posted daily until the drive by morons calling for moving on from Aidoo move on themselves. ANYBODY who thinks we are a better team without Aidoo doesn’t have a clue about basketball and Freak should ban them from the basketball forum!
Peoples opinions are slathered with overreaction because of the last two games and the importance of those games but your not the only person on here that gets to have an opinion. I hope Aidoo returns too but I can see someone thinking an upgrade is possible with this ever expanding transfer portal.

He’ll be at the 4 behind tobe if we bring no one else in. I don’t know enough about his skill set but think he needs to add a bunch of weight before I see him contributing in the post game.
Anyone know if Cade developing any wing skills? Seems quick enough/athletic enough for a JJJ role off bench.

Highly unlikely, but fun to dream.

Been saying this regarding Aidoo all season. He'll never be a banger, it just isn't how he's built mentally, but he's got potential as a stretch 4/5. If he became consistent from 12-16 feet, he would be lethal in pick & roll or pick & pop actions. and could help with spacing.

Awaka is 4/5 tweener to me. He should work on developing a few post moves and a turnaround jumper or jump hook. If he could hit those 12-15 footers with any consistency, he would be an ideal PF.
First of all, I would like to see him hit his attempted dunks and layups before he ventures lot to the free throw line.

Yep, I agree there's no clear cut upgrade in the portal over Aidoo. There's some good bodies that have youth and potential, but I don't think I'd take anyone as a plug and play replacement for what Aidoo brings. And I think next year he's going to improve even more. He faced the best of the best bigs and has an entire off-season to study HIS tape against them and figure out how he can improve. I'd love to see him react quicker when back to the rim & take advantage of their physical play and learn to make a quick spin and go up strong once they commit. Grant was an absolute MASTER of this and it's why at 6'7" he was able to score so efficiently in the paint.
I think posters underestimate Aidoo based on a few games where he wasn’t dependable. It happens, I mean Reed Shepperd, a lottery pick, was unplayable against those guys playing an old school zone. If I was Aidoo coming off an all SEC year, I’d go to the draft, not transfer. He has NBA skills.

Come on. Jonas Aidoo isn't sniffing the draft, right now. There's a lot more guaranteed money for him to be found in NIL than NBA, right now.

Not a chance at this point. He has tools, but has a ton of S&C work to do as well as post work and learning to use his size to finish. I want Aidoo back here for another year, and he needs an off season of improvement and another season of college ball before he can even begin to think about the next level.

There are reasoned opinions and then there’s nonsensical overreactions. Find me a single basketball knowledgeable person who says it reasonable to move on from Aidoo and I will then view the idea as an opinion. If you’re stupid enough to be part of that crowd, then let me know so I can add you to my ignore list.

If so, he’s going to demand a hefty NIL bag. Probably means Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, or UNC. He’s probably not a culture fit here anyway.
I thought he was leaning towards testing NBA waters if he didn’t go back to AU. Can’t find anything about him being in the portal.
