This is my hope. You almost have to get to a point where players are signing contracts that bind them, and you can't do that until the schools and collective can at least pretend like they're cooperating together.

I think it needs to get to the point where the schools are paying the players directly too. No reason for the fans to be footing the NIL bill when the university made over $200m last year.

I understand that, but it’s the new era of collegiate sports unfortunately.

I’ll also add this…coaches have decision to make in regards to NIL, it’s not infinite, at least not for most. If guys on your roster have limitations and you feel guys behind them can provide as much or more for less $$$, sometimes you gotta go that route. Same for the portal, if you think you can add someone who can fill a spot left by someone and for less $$$, you sometimes take it as well. It’s now a business, players leaving their “beloved” schools for a bit more money, and coaches allowing players to leave to save $$$.

The guy can’t shoot from 3, and really struggled to be efficient from 2 against good teams, I’m not as high on him.

It’s not done directly that way, but you’re naive if you don’t think that’s very much at play.

Can't shoot the 3? Dude hit 37% and 38% his last 2 years from 3. He just doesn't shoot many of them.

The part about struggling from 2 is correct though.

He played better against tougher competition as well.

- Xavier: 61% FG, didn’t shoot a 3. 28 points

This is why rumors are crap and stupid. No better source to what Jahmai is going to do than his mom. At this point it may just be Aidoo leaving, and I think we should treat it that way.

My statement yesterday was that both Aidoo and Mashack are making hard decisions. I also said that all our core players have offers from other places. If you follow Meika, she’s said both of those things too. I have not said he’s leaving. It seems others may have amplified that to say he’s leaving. You can also read what I’ve said about the integrity and character of both Meika and Jahmai. They are stellar people. At 21, I would not have been strong enough to say no to the money these kids are being offered. It’s hard and it isn’t set up to help them make the best choices. Frankly, I really like Jonas, Tobe, DJ and Freddie. If I had my wish, they’d all stay. I really hope Mashack stays. He’s part of our DNA.

He’s talked to the coaches over the last two days. Many in the media have said he’s gone. I don’t know that definitively. There was a glimmer of hope yesterday. I assume we’ll hear something today. As BTO said, it’s even possible that one guy leaving might mean another comes back. It’s been a hard few days over there, and I know they just want it all resolved so they can move on. I’ve said it elsewhere, but I want Aidoo to stay. I’ll be bummed if he goes.

Mashack became one of my all time favorite players-- He completely shuts down part of a team. I would be devestated to see him leave. I'm already gutted to lose Tobe and Knecht (even though we all knew he had to go)

So do we consider Mashack a legit threat from 3 then? Opposing teams sure didn’t. If you don’t shoot them then I don’t think the % or very relevant as the sample size is so small it’s 1-2 made/missed shots from really changing those numbers.

Above 45% in 1 game, most people would call that inefficient.

Scott Drew going to Kentucky reminds me of Urban going to Florida..... They had an opening before we did and they upgraded drastically to tune of winning Natty's.

Scott Drew is the one guy I would kill to have at Tennessee in the Post Barnes' era.

I am a Vols fan. Players will always come and go, I'll appreciate the ones who pick Tennessee. However, I'm a fan of Tennessee and as long as the Tennessee Vols field a team and I'm alive, my enjoyment won't change just based on who is in the uniform.

I also find the bemoaning of transfers a bit hypocritical in a thread where we're loving news about potential transfers coming here. Especially in light of what we just got from Knecht.

Exactly. And let's not forget those who were all for players being able to move around and "get paid". Just like the professional players! Yay! Freedom! No one stopped to consider what things would look like without employee status, collective bargaining, salary caps, etc that maintain some semblance of structure and fiscal sanity. Instead you put unlimited power in the hands of 18-22 year olds who have been spoiled, pampered and idolized since they turned 12 and displayed athletic prowess. Gonna be darned hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube. Heck, no one can decide who makes the call and who gets hauled into court for any and every unpopular decision. Instead, let bury heads in the sand and let it remain the wild, wild West. Schools get rich. Players get rich. Fans....as usual...are not considered and likely will get the shaft.

From everybody on this board today I think it’s a forgone conclusion that Aidoo probably leaves. Mashack, however, seems less likely to leave to me. Thats just my opinion though.

Honestly, if they want to chase the money, it's their right. Hopefully we've either made what we consider a fair offer or told them to move on already. Focus on the kids who are here and those who might want to come here. Aidoo and Mashack...best of luck fellas.
