The Lynx made mistakes which cost them a chance to win in the end. But the minute the refs do the same it's whole new story. All of basketball has to find a way to make officiating better.

And the commish wearing a NY Skyline Dress and saying the trophy was "where it belongs" was just . . .

Honestly, surprised the call was upheld on review. I guess the missed travel is not reviewable since no call was made.

I think that's right, missed travel not reviewable.

Reminded me SO much of the missed double dribble on SC at the end of the infamous game. JP missed both fts, cost us the game, that happens. Refs go blind on a blantant violation and cost us the game. Unacceptable.

Great. Just what they need. I bet this gets settled pretty early on.

One more thing about last night's game, big credit to Sandy Brondello for the use of Kayla Thorton and Sabally. Made her look like a genius.

I really hated it for Laney Hamilton though. Never thought they'd win it w her on the bench the whole second half. And I believe Vander Sloot only played about 2 mins. Things move fast at this level and you can go from star to afterthought really fast. Some predict Sloot will not be protected and will be a Valkyrte.

Draft lottery order drawing is Nov 17. Sparks need this! Expansion draft is in early Dec. Now that will be interesting!

Now at age 35, Vandersloot is not the same player she was when she helped CP3 win a title with the Sky. I think that is a good prediction that Liberty will let her go in the expansion draft. She can still be a valuable number 2 PG.

Oh, I'm sure they are ecstatic today, and will always be grateful for the championship. BUUUUUT, I'm sure they've already figured out they are forever going to have to hear about that championship being tainted, and I guaranTEE those competitive women are going to deeply regret that part of their legacy. It's not those players' fault, but they are the ones who will have to hear and read about their championship being illegitimate, and that is what folks like me and glv98 hate for them.

Congratulations to the 2024 WNBA Champions. The New York Liberty.

The Super Team who needed the help of some home cooking by the refs to win.
A win, is a win I assume.

I do agree with everyone here about the foul at the end of regulation. That is a shame. However, the way Minnesota dominated New York in the first half, it is really on them that it came to a foul call. In the first half, the Lynx defense was spectacular, and it seemed to make NY look desperate on offense. It is a tribute to the Liberty that they match the Lynx on defense in the 2nd half and overtime, especially given they are thought to be a great offensive team but just a good defensive team. It really showed me something about their character to be able to do this in face of an extremely frustrating offensive game. It was more this effort over the last 25 minutes than one blown call that led to the win and is why I think they deserved to win. It is not like the free throws at the end of regulation won the game for them. It tied the game, which led NY to dominate the Lynx in overtime. I don't think the Lynx performance in the last 25 minutes warranted the championship. They blew it along with the refs
I am glad they won the championship this year and have a feeling that the Lynx could win next year. I think Collier has a great chance to be the POY next year too. She is spectacular.

I get that right now, and for the next days and weeks and probably months, they'll not let all this controversy ruin it for them. But 20 years from now, when every story or broadcast that mentions this championship, is STILL rehashing "the call" and how that gave NY their chance to win it, you cannot tell me it won't bother them. It will.
