Nah, Deer Park deserves some slack. He almost always knows what he's talking about. Most of those examples were yrs and yrs ago.Actually Chuck, review the post. He said NO coach from a competing team would allow it ever. Then we all showed several examples of it happening, and then UT gave the OK to try. Never expected that one to live up to his words.
Initially thought it was a reference to DP but realized it was CJ, or thought so. Definitely would give DP wide berth in any Vol sports matters.Nah, Deer Park deserves some slack. He almost always knows what he's talking about. Most of those examples were yrs and yrs ago.
I actually still believe him. Yes I heard what Lauren said. But common sense just won't let me believe it will ever happen. The 2 sports' seasons overlap people!
This is not a level where you can be a part time player. Certainly not in the basketball program that prides itself on training that would make a marine cry. And with an involved and complex learning curve.
I guess if you are clearly not a significant player in one of the two sports you could pull it off. But I just don't see it for a high level player.
GiannaKneepkens Would be an interesting prospect if She hits the portal after the season for Utah. 6’0 guard who has had big games against Multiple SEC teams.Leona Sneed ranked #26 - other 2 finalists were Arkansas and Cal
Avery Hjelmstad ranked #47 - other 2 finalists were Ok. State and Colorado
Well, apparently the coaches believe otherwise.Nah, Deer Park deserves some slack. He almost always knows what he's talking about. Most of those examples were yrs and yrs ago.

Yep, this poster made the right prediction, and ahead of the curve, that Kellie was getting sacked and then decided he was Nostradamus.Oh yes. Carla’s brother, @Volstylexx.
But xx was such a delightful person; thoughtful, erudite, what a loss to our board.Yep, this poster made the right prediction, and ahead of the curve, that Kellie was getting sacked and then decided he was Nostradamus.
100% guaranteed that our next coach was going to be Dawn Staley. And even after CKC was announced, declared those to be fake news to hid the pending announcement for Dawn.
I have heard rumors (started by me) that Volystylexx has entered into the witness protection program, along with Darth.
So what you are saying is since she is signing basketball scholly she is prohibited by NCAA in also playing on the Volleyball team ?Well, again, it won’t happen next season regardless. She is signing basketball scholarship papers, which, per NCAA scholarship rules, means she cannot play volleyball next season.
Multiport athletes count against the scholarship allotment of the first team they participate in during an academic year, practice or game. Volleyball does not have an open scholarship for next year, unless there is mass attrition that is not replaced via the transfer portal. Which means to participate in volleyball next year, she would have to give up a scholarship and be a walk on in both sports, which is not happening.
Not talking about deer park.Nah, Deer Park deserves some slack. He almost always knows what he's talking about. Most of those examples were yrs and yrs ago.

She’s not playing her freshmen yearNah, Deer Park deserves some slack. He almost always knows what he's talking about. Most of those examples were yrs and yrs ago.

We know. Deer Park has explained a couple of times that no volley ball scholies are available and Hurst's participation in vb would count against their scholie limit bc it's the first participation of the year. She’s not playing her freshmen year
You do not have to have a volleyball scholly to play volleyball .....that is unless the NCAA has some rule that I am unaware that if you play basketball and have a basketball scholly you are prohibited from playing volleyball .If there is such a rule if I were good in both sports ,I would challenge the NCAA with a law suit.We know. I don't think she ever plays both, just don't think it's doable. Unless she's more or less just a practice player and deep bench in one of the two.

Then sign her to Volleyball scholly so she can play both if that is what she wants and that is probably what will or has happened.I was aware of the Track /Football rule that was instituted because of Bear Bryant but not aware of the basketball/volleyball linkage.....still do not understand it and if I were an athlete in this current environment with NIL,tranfer portal .increase in scholarships in every sport I would definitely challenge that rule which would absolutely be overturned in a hearbeat.DeerPark explained this well. There are NCAA rules (mostly due to football) that state a scholarship player in two sports must use the scholarship for the first sport in the academic year. This was done to prevent football from putting players on a track scholarship when they are really there to play football and track is secondary. Forcing them to use the scholarship for football and open schollys for track specific athletes.
This means if she signed for a basketball scholarship and played volleyball her scholarship would be docked to volleyball as it comes first in the year. Barring any transfers there are no available volleyball scholarships for her freshman year.
She cannot walk onto the volleyball team without giving up her basketball scholarship and being a walk on for the basketball team.
Main problem IMO is she'll be half the player playing both than she would playing just one. Then sign her to Volleyball scholly so she can play both if that is what she wants and that is probably what will or has happened.I was aware of the Track /Football rule that was instituted because of Bear Bryant but not aware of the basketball/volleyball linkage.....still do not understand it and if I were an athlete in this current environment with NIL,tranfer portal .increase in scholarships in every sport I would definitely challenge that rule which would absolutely be overturned in a hearbeat.
That is your opinion.....not shared by Hurst and has nothing to do about whether signing one scholly or tuther prohibits one from playing one or the tuther.Main problem IMO is she'll be half the player playing both than she would playing just one.
Don't think we can say Kim runs the roughest training in the world and a system so complex to learn she routinely expects to lose early games and still expect even the world's best athlete to thrive as a drive by in it. It just doesn't make sense.
