2025 Seed Watch Party Thread

I can’t imagine the argument of an SEC champ winner NOT being a number 1 seed
It would be hard to justify not making Florida a 1 seed with a 29-4 record and so far a 4-1 record against Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee this season entering tomorrow. Not to mention multiple blowout wins of quality middle of the pack SEC teams like Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Missouri. I think Tennessee’s 6 conference losses during the regular season might be too much to make up, but stranger things have happened. The committee is unpredictable.

The Ole Miss loss killed us

I think the plan might be tomorrow’s winner gets the 1. Beating 2 projected 1’s coming into the weekend would also be hard to ignore. Especially winning the BEST CONF. HANDS DOWN TOURNEY. Winning is a BIG if though. Mich State and Houston losses would help. NEED TOBE AWAKA to pull a Brandon Stewart for Ariz.

Michigan State already lost today. Don’t think they ever were in contention for a 1 anyways, though.

This is why conference tournament are becoming less and less relevant.

You tell me how Tennessee doesn't have a chance at the last number 1 seed? According to Lunardi, tomorrow doesn't matter? How? We just beat the supposed best team in the country and are 1v1 against Florida.

How difficult is it for thr committee onto switch Florida and Tennessee based off tomorrow's results?

If this is the case, the SEC tourney needs to start in Tuesday and end on Saturday

True, but if wins this weekend, particularly an opportunity to beat Florida tomorrow isn't going to help us, it's also fair to wonder if a Saturday loss to Florida would have hurt us.
I think Florida probably 1 seed regardless. But had bama won and then lost to vols a second time and had more loses over the season than vols that would have been wild making them a 1 seed over the vols. Maybe it happens but optics much harder to overlook that scenario

The thing that’s most important to me is that we are currently playing our best basketball. I think Florida is probably, deservedly, getting the one, with a slight chance of us getting it if we win. More importantly, we’ve gotten better in the last two weeks and look like a team that can beat anyone in the country on a given night. Anything can happen in the tournament, but it’s good to see us playing disciplined, smart basketball at the right time.

That’s why I think Houston getting a number 1 seed is the most overrated thing ever. They just won a 3 team league conference title. They lost to Bama and Auburn in non conference. Hard for me to actually believe they should be a 1 seed while having 2 less losses than us and same number of losses as Florida.

It’s an easy either-or for the committee. Winner gets the #1 in the West, loser gets the top #2 seed. Either way we’re in Lexington next weekend.
And I still actually object to this.

If Florida wins.....sorry, they should be in the Midwest. I can't get over that Florida can have a 5-1 record vs Alabama, Tennessee and Auburn. And of the 4 wins that have already occurred.....damn the final score.....they were beat downs. They dominated those games. What if they have a convincing win tomorrow?

Now, I'll grant that Duke, Houston, and Auburn did nothing deserving of some sort of punishment......but, I don't see where Houston should be higher in the pecking order. I really don't

Agreed. Houston has skated by in a very weak conference with a weak non conference resume.
