2025 Seed Watch Party Thread

I think Florida gets the #3 if they win.

I think Florida gets the #4 if we win

as I wake up this morning, I’m inclined to agree with this. There is info on a Gator board that Houston has actually requested to go West. I don’t know.

I can’t get it out of my head that where politics is at play is Houston/Duke would be pissed to see Florida as the #2 in their region and therefore the committee won’t do it

I believe Florida will win today which may make a lot of this moot.

But, I agree that it wouldn’t be right if Tennessee won that they didn’t get the #1 seed.

Florida as a #2 has to be lined up with Houston or Duke because the other two #1 seeds would be SEC teams, and you can’t have a 1 and a 2 in the same region from the same conference.

Duke has told the committee that Flagg would be good to go for the NCAA tournament. But what if Duke just lied so they could keep the 1 seed? What would the punishment be. Probably nothing.

Right.

So, the way to avoid that is just to make Florida a 1 seed no matter what

Nothing at this point. If the ncaa tournament required injury reports, maybe Duke get a little scrutiny for painting a false picture in advance of the tournament. Even then, though, they wouldn’t have lied on an official injury report by saying Flagg is good to go before the bracket is announced. There just isn’t really any punishment that could be given.

Yep. Why even ask Duke then? Seemed silly

I expect for you to be outraged just as much as us when UT beats Fla today and UT gets a #2 seed.

I would agree it wouldn't be right. Right now, the way I am thinking about it is this.

Would I rather play St. John's/Michigan State in San Francisco or Houston in Indianapolis.

That's pretty much the situation for either of us. Now, I've gotten to the point where I know my team can lose on a given day particularly to any team that's been that good all season, but I think my squad is better. And if they're going to win a championship, get to the Final Four, etc., they're going to have to beat people anyway. You don't get a trophy beating teams that suck.

But, usually what happens is, you go through all of this hypothetical stuff and you get upset by the 8 seed in the 2nd round.

Agree. The better squad certainly doesn’t always win in the tournament. All it takes is one poor shooting game and some bad breaks and a better team will be gone.

Good post.

It’s disappointing imo. I’d love for someone to put him on the spot and ask on camera for the change of opinion.
Lyles Jr basically took him to cleaners on the debate of Indiana being in over Texas along with UNC being ahead of Texas on the first teams left out.

He just sat their smiling with his crap eating smirk

It would be hard to justify not making Florida a 1 seed with a 29-4 record and so far a 4-1 record against Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee this season entering tomorrow. Not to mention multiple blowout wins of quality middle of the pack SEC teams like Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Missouri. I think Tennessee’s 6 conference losses during the regular season might be too much to make up, but stranger things have happened. The committee is unpredictable.
All fair but we do have the better out of conference schedule. It’s close if we win today but my guess is Florida is the last 1 no matter what. What it comes down to is they found a way to win at SC when they shouldn’t have while we couldn’t pull the same trick at Vandy. Either one of those games goes the other way and I think we’re the 1 with a win today. Both flipped and we would be the likely lock. Credit the Gators. They won some tough games I didn’t expect.

It’s an easy either-or for the committee. Winner gets the #1 in the West, loser gets the top #2 seed. Either way we’re in Lexington next weekend.
You think we get the 1 with a win? If so, you’ve definitely done a 180. I’ve softened on my thought the SEC tourney didn’t matter but I still don’t think today does. I hope I’m wrong and really hope we get to find out!

And I still actually object to this.

If Florida wins.....sorry, they should be in the Midwest. I can't get over that Florida can have a 5-1 record vs Alabama, Tennessee and Auburn. And of the 4 wins that have already occurred.....damn the final score.....they were beat downs. They dominated those games. What if they have a convincing win tomorrow?

Now, I'll grant that Duke, Houston, and Auburn did nothing deserving of some sort of punishment......but, I don't see where Houston should be higher in the pecking order. I really don't
I think they’ll use out of conference schedule to justify Houston but Houston didn’t win those tough OOC games so I agree with you. No comparison between the Big 12 and SEC. SEC was 14-2 against the Big 12 this year.

I’d like to know how much info is leaked out to him by members of the committee.

Here it is folks. This is why you ALWAYS want the 1 seed over a 2 seed. Plus, people are quickly forgetting last year. Had we been the 1 out West instead of UNC we would’ve made the Final 4. Instead, we were the top 2 seed and drew Edey.

What people fail to understand and research is that not only did we have better non conference schedule and wins, we also had the tougher conference schedule. There are some on here that may never come around to understanding that with 14-18 team conferences, there are unbalanced conference schedules. Not all records are the same. Happens in football, too.
