Tennessee remains in the thick of it for several prominent targets on the board, most notably given recent developments, guard
Darius Adams. Adams visited Knoxville the weekend of the Kent State game and the Vols made a strong impression. He followed that trip up with a mid-week visit to UCONN immediately after leaving Knoxville and was at Michigan State this past weekend.
Following the Michigan State visit Adams cancelled a scheduled visit to Alabama for this week and announced that the Tide along with NC State (who he previously visited) were out and his three finalists were the Vols, Spartans and Huskies. Tennessee is definitely in here swinging and Adams has been a longtime priority for this staff. Associated head coach Justin Gainey got the Vols in on this one early and Adams was the first prospect that Rick Barnes visited during the September live period.
With all that said, this is going to be a tough pull. We haven’t spoken with anyone who feels like Adams has made a final decision yet, but some buzz we picked up this week suggests that perhaps UCONN has put itself in position as the team to beat. Again, we don’t think anything is done here yet and Tennessee still has time to make a final push.
Elsewhere based on what we’re hearing now Tennessee is out for Indiana shooting guard
Braylon Mullins. The Vols made a strong run at Mullins, the No. 22 ranked player in the ’25 class, and had him on the books for an official visit for the weekend of the Florida game. However Mullins eliminated Tennessee and will decide from a trio of finalists that includes Indiana, UCONN and North Carolina.
The Vols are still hopeful of getting top-five national prospect Caleb Wilson on campus for an official visit the weekend of the Florida game. We’ll keep an eye on that one, but that recruitment is full of heavyweights.
We mentioned last week that combo guard
Amari Evans, who visited earlier this month, has set a commitment date for Nov. 1. As of now we will say we like were Tennessee sits in that recruitment.
Tennessee has been searching for a point guard to add in this class and as of now it looks like Charlotte area point guard
Isaiah Dennis might be the Vols’ best shot at doing that. Dennis is slated to officially visit Tennessee the weekend of the Florida game. He has previously visited Ohio State and Miami. Look for in-state schools Wake Forest and North Carolina to be Tennessee’s major competition.
Tennessee is still in contact and pursuing combo guard Donte Allen who made an official visit the weekend of the Chattanooga game.
Tennessee also remains in pursuit of five-star combo-guard Brayden Burries from Riverside, Ca.
