3 Keys to this Season

Some random media member: "Hey Josh "patsy" Pastner a lot of fans and the media are saying you are on the hot seat this year and you haven't beaten a ranked team...Pastner: yeah but I'm 3-0 against CCM in his first 2 years even though his roster was bare... Aww sh!t can you say GOAT!! Give this man a raise!

And that's how relevant in the grand scheme of things CJP's record is against CCM...

CCM is 3-0 against a 2 time national championship coach

Pastner is 3-0 against a coach who's never made the NCAA tournament

Is this really even a discussion?

I agree. His wins over UT don't amount to much.

I don't think he's anywhere near the hot seat though.

Does that seem to be the consensus amongst Tiger fans? Cause a 20 win season isn't as automatic as it usually is this year. Not say you will, but what if only 19 wins and miss the dance?

If we have 19 wins and miss the dance it's a catastrophic failure. There isn't much chance of that though, with the squad we have.

You may find some Tiger fans that aren't happy with Pastner's performance, but no reasonable Tiger fan will tell you he's at risk of losing his job.

85-80 is drilling?

The final score doesn't tell how bad the game really got out of hand for UT. They weren't in it by the half. Memphis grabbed a 15 point lead and just sat on it in the second, with UT unable to do anything to get back in the game.

10 point game with 9 minutes left. Stayed within 10 points for the remainder.

We were up 11 with 2 minutes and change left. Not sure which game you were watching, Mr. Ziti. UT was never within a possession for the entire 2nd half.

Memphis put it in cruise control and started prepping for ECU.

So, a two possession game within a minute?

The Tigers were already thinking about the in flight meal on the way back Memphis. The game was sewn up.

Last post I'll make on it.

10 points lead with nine minutes left.

5 point lead with 4 minutes left.

4 point lead with 50 seconds left.

Won by 5. Not a blowout.

We'll agree to disagree.

UT lead for exactly zero seconds of the game. 15 point lead at half. 11 point lead under 3 minutes. Game never within a possession in the second half.

I was there, and Memphis just shut it down in the second half with the game safely in hand.

Although the UT-UF series has no bearing on the Memphis-UT record, you're on the right track.

If you say so. I personably prefer results such as NCAA tourney wins and beating ranked teams, but if you prefer owning a coach who's not coached a ranked team....well to each their own, Pastner is clearly the right guy for your team.

It's all about wins in March, BTO. The only time you'll hear me bring up the fact that Martin is winless against Pastner is when someone is talking about the next Memphis/UT game. In the grand scheme, I think Pastner's wins over the likes of Southern Miss and Gonzaga carry more weight.

UT appears to be back on the uptick this season, though.

The Memphis / UT thread hijackings are getting about as annoying as the CCM / CBP hijackings.

Your UConn guest is the one that brought it up, for some weird reason.

EDIT: Speaking of Bruce Pearl, he's announcing Memphis Madness next Friday. The Forum will be rocking.

I knew how it was gonna end when I read this earlier....

What's Up Vol Nation!!,

You guys should be looking forward to this season! Big things in store assuming the club stays injury free.

Memphis vs. Tennessee

Taking into consideration rosters and coaching who gets the edge?? Objectively speaking that is... which I understand is a tough proposition on a Vol's board. :)

I think both teams are primed for a run in March.

What do you guys think????
