Sen. Kyrsten Sinema Reminds Biden Who Really Holds The Cards

Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona is reminding her party’s leaders that the less liberal part of the Democratic congressional caucus, small as it may be, still holds a strong legislative poker hand.

The likely result will be more of a public relations win than a substantive one for the purported centrists, while the taxpayers still lose and the party’s left wing whines while actually winning more than it should.

By numerous reports, Sinema is leading the Democratic semi-centrists in an ultimatum to the White House: Pass the pending, bloated, $1 trillion “infrastructure" bill by Sept. 27 or forgo any chance of passing anything in the ballpark of the even more monstrously bloated $3.5 trillion social spending bill pushed by the party’s left wing. Sinema, backed by a small group of centrist House Democrats, is also reportedly against the part of the social spending bill that would change the Medicare prescription drug program.

This tax and spend sh*t is infuriating.

Never clean bills on things that are important, always loaded with pork. The inability by this country to get spending under control is the biggest risk to this country's future, hands down.
And neither of the binary choices want to fix it. They just swap court sides every election cycle. It’s freaking infuriating for anybody who knows how to balance a damn checkbook.

You're right, the right has owned the narrative that the left is nothing but a tax and spend machine while generally doing the exact same thing. But this time it just sticks out like a sore thumb, there's absolutely no shame - the right should be CRUCIFYING the left for this.

When I hear threats of a government shutdown? I don't understand why everyone (but .gov ee's) aren't yelling "Yes, please."

$3.5T spending package includes big money for 'tree equity,' Bias Training and more

Nearly $79 billion for the IRS, $12 billion for electric cars, $3 billion for "tree equity," $1 billion to turn government facilities into "high-performance green buildings," and new funding for gender identity issues and bias training — Fox News can now reveal these and other controversial spending items in Democrats’ multitrillion-dollar reconciliation package, following the House Budget Committee's release and approval of the full draft legislation on Saturday.

Among the most contentious provisions, the bill gives a substantial funding boost to the Internal Revenue Service, which stands to gain an additional $78.94 billion over the next 10 years. The money would help the IRS strengthen tax enforcement activities, expand audits and modernize its technology. An additional $410 million would go to IRS oversight.

Democrats also are putting equity at the center of the bill. The Agriculture Committee has earmarked $3 billion for a tree-planting program "with a priority for projects that increase tree equity." The legislation dishes out another $4 billion for "neighborhood access and equity grants." Meanwhile, its "electric vehicle charging equity program" comes with a $1 billion price tag.

House Dems' $3.5T spending bill includes Free Community College for Illegal Immigrants

Congressional Democrats' controversial $3.5 trillion spending bill appears to include illegal immigrants in providing free community college.
The reconciliation bill would amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to establish a grant program for free community college, which would fulfill one of President Biden's campaign pledges.

The grant program would extend free community college to individuals regardless of their "basis of citizenship, alienage, or immigration status," according to the most recent version of the reconciliation bill.

I'm planning on the spending fiasco to wait until I'm dead before it totally wrecks the country. My kids and grandkids are F'd though. Maybe what is left of my inheritance after the new taxes will pay for a nice house for an illegal.

Sinema to Hold Fundraiser With Groups Opposed to Social Spending Package

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) is reportedly scheduled to hold a fundraiser this week with business groups opposed to the $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation package being crafted by her party.

Sinema has emerged as a critical voice in the Senate on the legislation and opposes a package with a top line of $3.5 trillion, saying it must be smaller. Progressives have insisted $3.5 trillion should be the floor for the bill.

Sinema and progressives also have various policy differences on the details of the bill, a key part of President Biden's agenda that is also tied to a separate infrastructure measure already approved by the Senate.

Sinema and fellow centrist Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) have been at odds with progressives over the size of the reconciliation package. Sinema has also reportedly told her Senate Democratic colleagues in private that she is opposed to the corporate and individual tax rate increases that lawmakers on tax-writing committees in both the House and Senate are looking to implement to pay for the bill's provisions on climate change, health care and other issues.
