Careful with what you hear about education. Most of us work summer jobs to fill in the gaps from where we're only employed 9 months a year. Also have to factor in the unpaid faculty development and in-service seminars.
Considering most people dont actually make anything at all, how do you see this working?Do you seriously think if boss says get x done in y amount of hours that it will get done because boss says so? If you want x done you pay by the piece with an incremental pay structure and a bonus for over producing.
1. Employer says get X done by EOB. Work day is 8 hours. Worker gets X done by EOB.
2. Employer says get X done by EOB. Work day is 7 hours. Worker gets X done by EOB.
In both cases the boss should be happy. He got what he asked for. If the employer is pissed his workers are getting the same X done in less time that's an employer problem. Not a worker problem.
If you are on salary you are getting paid the same, no matter how much or how little you produce, or time in the office. No point in the worker busting his ass if he isnt getting paid more to bust his ass.
Come up with a profit sharing business and you see both get happier.

Yep, it's all about incentives. If someone works hard for 4 hours and makes the same amount someone working 10 hours does being a lazy ass where would you rather work?If I made widgets I would absolutely pay by the piece. Need 10 widgets done in a shift and you get them done in 4 hours, go home.
Louder takes 10 hours it's on him.
Old guy is like that too. There is a very built in mindset if you arent at your desk for 8 hours you arent working. Saw it in the requirements for working from the office after Covid even with production not suffering from work at home.You've been told never to work for a female.
Why is everyone desperate for employees then?
