8th in Recruiting in the SEC for 24...

I agree it's all subjective to a point, but history tells us if you have a 3-5 year trend like this then Bama/Ga will be the SEC champs 90%-100% of the time during that timeframe.

Again it's subjective, but what are recruits seeing that is putting programs like Auburn, Miami and UF ahead of us in recruiting. To me that'sore troubling than UGA out-recruiting us at this time

Half these recruits will be on other teams within 2 years, HS recruits are. unimportantly important in this new age. The price for keeping a #1 through #25 recruit for 3+ years will continue to be astronomical and some wont even play but 4 games their 1st year. It's been real and its been real fun to follow but it is very different now.

VOLS not going to out recruit Bama, Dawgs, etc..... until they can show they can win the SEC. Period! There are now 5-6 teams historically in the Top 10 nationally now that Texas and Sooners have been added so it's only getting tougher to recruit in the SEC.

Grammatical trainwreck, but good post.

If you want a very simple look at how various teams are doing recruiting without digging into the numbers this is okay. It sort of relates to on field results but it leaves out a lot of factors IMO.

1. How many are going to be on the same team 3 years from now?
2. Do these recruits fill the team’s needs?
3. Is it a balanced recruiting class? Offense/defense, skill position/grunts, etc..
4. There is a BIG difference between a #3 ranked player and a 23rd ranked player but there is very little difference (mostly subjective) between a 33rd ranked recruit and a 53rd ranked recruit. Also a big difference in what position the recruit plays. This ranking system doesn’t take those factors in consideration.

There usually is a big difference in the top 1-2 teams in these ranking vs a team ranked #10 but not much difference in a team ranked #10 vs #20.

Two of the teams ahead of us have a lower average recruit ranking (OU & LSU). A couple have 28 commits. And I'm sorry but I don't give a damn about that 91.99 from the other UT vs. our 91.33

This. Also, don't we have scholarship restrictions? Even if it's only a few, that means our ceiling is lower since we can't quite recruit as many player as other schools.

Which is one reason why I still think it's very underrated the job Heupel has done. It's not like he came here in ideal circumstances.

There you go being logical 😉 Johnny Majors called these NegaVols the Legion of the Miserable. The fact is UT is coming off of what is possibly it's worst two decades ever, while 2 or 3 other teams have been on one of their best runs ever. Fulmer had us poised to make an historic run. It didn't work out. It ain't going to be easy getting back to that level. Georgia did it, and has made a run of it. We will too. I hope. I like the 2024 schedule and how the open dates are placed. I'm optimistic now. That's my job as a fan. Not to be a couch potato, happy hour, negative nelly, legion of the miserable, "know-it-all". 🧡

Really concise, spoke to each point made. Read much?
I did in fact give a good rebuttal to the hysteria implied in OP. 2nd or 3rd posts in the thread. Check em out. They address your "concerns" very effectively. I just didn't have time to reiterate again. You either didn't read my well reasoned posts, or didn't care and simply started blasting your unreasonable hysteria.

Its a good class. Very high star ranking.

Not nearly depth at WR, and CB. DL was a huge disappointment. Way too many second place finishes, and no commits of any note since August.

THAT is the worrisome part.

Dude he’s getting schooled right now by Kiffin and others in the portal and recruiting
Kiffen is signing a lot of portal players who were or are unable to play to the level to start or are players who are looking for a lot of money from the team they for in 2023. Baron is a good example of this. He entered the portal last year and we gave him a finch of money to come back. He tried the same thing this year and we said no. I have no problems with him going somewhere else.

My whole point man, 23rd, yet a lot better record than us, PLUS he hit the portal hard last year and he's wearing it out this year, get it? Also see loser Beamer...maybe not for long. Killing it in the portal!
Beamer is killing it with his 27th ranked portal class? That doesn't factor in losses to the portal either

They are thought to be pursuing a portal transfer. How many WR do you think you can carry on a roster? They NFL gets by with 5 or 6 🤷 And maybe 4 on a given Sunday

Spillman, Leacock, Thornton, and Mccoy likely wont contribute (at least for a bit).

Based upon history, where are Matthews and Staley?

That leaves the three incumbents. White is the only future star. Ive seen nothing from others to show me they're NFL talents. Im absolutely a lay fan, and couldnt draw a route tree with a gun to my head. Grade of slaw.

Seeing so many players leave via the portal makes HS recruiting less of a barometer of success. 4 year commitment no more. Lucky you get 2.

Some of y'all should probably just change fandoms. We are not going to out recruit Alabama, Georgia, or Texas. We are recruiting at the level of Michigan, which, as we have seen over the past three years is good enough to overcome a talent deficit.

Heck, look at Washington compared to Oregon talent-wise or those Clemson teams that beat Alabama. I know. I know. Different conference but they did beat them pretty convincingly on the biggest stage with decent recruiting and a great quarterback

With Heup I always expected decent recruiting with exceptional scheme. Until Saban leaves or we rattle off multiple digit win seasons in a row, We will likely be at a talent deficient, And that's okay if the scheme is good enough assuming we are still in that top 15 range.

I think Leacock is pretty highly regarded. Webb & Nimrod did fine while gaining valuable experience. Jalin Hyatt was meh, until he wasn't. It'll be alright. Who knows maybe they take 2 WR in the portal.
