8th in Recruiting in the SEC for 24...

I think Leacock is pretty highly regarded. Webb & Nimrod did fine while gaining valuable experience. Jalin Hyatt was meh, until he wasn't. It'll be alright. Who knows maybe they take 2 WR in the portal.
Personally, I'm hoping for the kid from Tulane. Having an outside threat, gives added depth to a thin room.

Kitten is signing a lot of portal players who were or are unable to play to the level to start or are players who are looking for a lot of money from the team they for in 2023. Baron is a good example of this. He entered the portal last year and we gave him a finch of money to come back. He tried the same thing this year and we said no. I have no problems with him going somewhere else.
First, his name is Kiffin. I saw in a previous post you referred to me as 'she'. I guess this stuff makes you feel tough, but it really makes you look petty and childish.

Second, Ole Miss isn't getting guys unable to start. They got the #1 edge rusher from Florida, Baron was ranked the #2 edge rusher, they got Wells from SCar, probably others not coming to mind, and they're projected to get Nolan out of aTm.

Not to worry though, we just replaced our second best rusher with a JUCO guy with offers from a couple of directional schools and a transfer from MTSU.

I did this chart on the Heisman winners since 2007. There are as many 3 star recruits that have won it as 5 star. My point is it is more important to evaluate who you recruit and develop them than to rely on thier recruiting ranking. Sure we need to be in the top 15 or 20, but after that it is what you do with the talent after they get here.

The guy from MTSU is a stud. It's easy for the less than informed to skim over recruiting rankings then complain. How about the TE from Notre Dame?

I like you, you actually present an argument, rather than calling someone a child who actually probably exceeds their IQ by 10 points or so. My original and presiding complaint with Heupel is, we are coming in mid-SEC in recruiting and middling SEC coaches are kicking our asses in the portal...that's all.
I mean we’re under scholarship restrictions, we have to bite that bullet sometime. Our average per player is higher than our average over the past couple of decades. It’s also much higher than a lot of teams ranked in front of us on raw numbers.

First, ratings are very subjective. Second, some have signed more players this more points etc. 3rd, The difference between 3 and 8 is like 1 or 2 players
Plus signing day is not here yet, I know that the early enrollies are allowed to sign something, but we don't even know who may flip one way or another. Coaches may know of someone flipping to us that nobody else knows.

A lot of my posts on this ongoing subject are just messing with people. I actually like Heupel and this staff in general. I know we have scholarship restriction issues, and I know we paid Nico a ton of money, not to mention a pretty good sized wad to get some of these guys from last year back. I'd just like to see CJH knock a homer with one of these transfers.

Dude he’s getting schooled right now by Kiffin and others in the portal and recruiting
Dude, he gave a full rebuttal to that comment and you come off with a one-liner. Give some context with what you are talking about. How is he schooling us. have you not read any of the other post? Player average is going to mean a lot more to this team than the total ranking.

It’s still just outside the top 10 nationally though which I believe is roughly what the program has averaged for the past 15 years or so? That’s still pretty good considering the recruiting restrictions they’re having to deal with.

That's ridiculous ..... I wouldn't trade our 2024 class for LSU's, Texas's or Florida's .... no way. This is pure ignorance of how to follow recruiting.
Agreed

However, as a trolling job it is pretty good work l.

Of course, some of these girls do that all day and have lots of experience being asses.

I'm not making any comment on the ranking but it sure looks like a really good start to recruiting kind of fizzled out down the stretch.. That to me is more concerning..They got quality in this class just not enough quantity.. They do have reduced scholarship numbers which could be part of it but not enough pop really overall..

Two of the teams ahead of us have a lower average recruit ranking (OU & LSU). A couple have 28 commits. And I'm sorry but I don't give a damn about that 91.99 from the other UT vs. our 91.33 😂

2024 SEC Rankings

In reality only Auburn and maybe Florida are the schools that should not be expected to have a higher ranked recruiting. The others are long time winning programs that almost always have a top 10 national recruiting ranking. Yep we do need better recruiting but it’s going to be very difficult to do so on a consistent basis.

If a team can get in the top 10 recruiting class, that's pretty darn good in my opinion. Wasn't just a few short years ago we were praying for a top 20 class. Go vols!!!

NCAA Article on Scholarship Reductions

In case anyone else was wondering about the numbers on the scholarship reductions courtesy of Fulmer and Pruitt:

  • Five years of probation.
  • A reduction in football scholarships by a total of 28 during the term of probation, including at least two scholarships each year.
    • Tennessee previously self-imposed and is credited with 16 scholarship reductions from the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years.

Here are the recruiting rankings, W/L records of each team with a higher 24/7 5 year composite and our record against them over the last 3 years under CJH,
rk: team: w/l: cjh record against
1. Bama: 36-5; 1-2
2. UGA: 31-2; 0-3
4. TAMU: 20-16: 1-0
5. Clemson: 29-10; 1-0
7. LSU: 25-14; 1-0
12. UF: 17-21; 1-2
17. Vols: 26-12; n/a

Beat your chest or clutch your pearls about recruiting rankings. A lot of good recruiting did TAMU, Clemson, and UF compared to us. Once the top three schools (Bama, UGA, and tOSU0 are factored out, the rest of us are basically in the same place.

Kind of what I am thinking as well.

Everyone can spin it however they want but watching 2 solid contributors in McDonald and Baron go to Ole Miss is a bit of a gut punch.

Maybe not all SEC talents but they had been good enough to start here for the past couple of seasons.

And the staff seems to have been caught kind of flat footed in trying to replace the DB defections so far.

To be fair. Baron wanted to leave last year, the staff met his Needs with alittle bit of a boost. He wanted even more NIL this year. The staff offered him more. He wasnt happy with offer so he left. Cant fault either party in this one. To me it seemed like Baron's heart isnt truly orange if he kept wanting to leave. Wish the kid the best. Dont forget about the 5* edge rushers behind him and the one coming in.

Yeah. All the defections makes me wonder if something isn't going on.. They need quality there worse than anywhere.. McDonald was a loss. The rest were probably not SEC two deep quality.
