#9 South Carolina @ Vanderbilt

This is true but being the 1st game of the season, I'm going to pull against teams I dislike. It feels like a sad day when it comes down to being worried about week 1 and the outcome of Vandy and South Carolina though.

South Carolina did play in the SEC championship but Tennessee, Georgia and Florida are generally the top 3.

I'm not going to let a few years change my view. Especially when it's been the worst years in a long time. I'll let it play out. Vandy 0-1

There's no worrying, but my opinion is - with us having been middle of the road to poor the last 4 years or so and likely looking at a "dark horse" season - any little bit that could help later down the line isn't such a bad thing...especially coming against the favorites that year.

I can understand your view (and to each their own) but I'm not sure we're in a position where "without help" is too...I dunno, likely to happen.

So I take it then you're also less for Missouri and/or A&M winning in week 2?

Only because the SEC East sucks.

Did you not spend years listening to the three Daves on Jefferson Pilot talk about how gritty the Commodores were and how they always played with such heart? Did you not watch them play tough and close with good teams every single year, only to always fall find a way to lose at the end? I haven't seen anything on the field yet that looks any different than it did under Bobby Johnson and Woody Widenhofer.

This X Eleventy Billion

I doubt he'll have to do a lot of spinning because the guy he thinks is a great up and coming coach just lost on a cheap missed PI call to the team he picked to win the NC. I can't imagine the game having played out any more perfectly for his agenda.

Clay Travis picked the Cocks to win the title? Seriously?

I knew he was stupid, but good lord.

Yeah, good luck with that. Hang onto that thought. :good!:

Top 10 before people saw them play.

Preseason rankings mean nothing.

How about the fact that Tennessee beating a higher ranked South Carolina team benefits Tennessee more?

Or have you already just given up on Tennessee beating South Carolina...

I haven't seen Tennessee play to pass judgment on their chances. All I know is that the Vols haven't beaten anyone of consequence in many years.

I'm also not writing off SCAR for winning a road game in August. Last I checked, they have a lot of talent on a team tat finished with a winning record.

1000+ posts for a Vandy game?

Does not compute.

Don't take this the wrong way guys...

but someone got into a big argument here when I suggested Vanderbilt (& UK) were also big/major rivals for UT (behind Bama/UF)

(Again not to be taken the wrong way guys), but looking back at this thread...it kind of, sort of looks a lot like a South Carolina thread about a game Clemson's losing (or a UF thread about FSU losing)

Lol why is anybody trying to build either of these teams up? Neither is very good. Yea Vandy is a little better than usuasl but barely as mediocre as the old USCjr teams that was always "next year". Or you could say they always play USCjr tough & have beaten them in recent years. USCjr peaked & is heading back to where they belong. They can't ride Lattimore without absolutely nobody to lob it up to & nobody that can throw worth a damn.

if UT is worse than what we watched tonight then it will be a long, long season

Their secondary is very suspect too.

So you're declaring Vandy to be a better team, but it doesn't matter if they don't win many games?

program, program, program. I have said very little about this team tonight and their performance. They are supposed to be down this year vs last, they just went to a bowl, and have their best recruiting class of last year topped with a better class this year.

Overreaction.

UT looked like a contender vs Cincy last year. SCAR beat UGA.

Care to judge each team's season on those individual games?

...USCe swept the East and just missed the championship game because they had to play Arkansas and UGA didn't

(I get what you're going for; that might not be the best example to use is all though)
