It looks like DJ just cost himself a spot in the playoff thanks to grounding his club in the hazard. Wow. Just... wow. All the talent in the world, "stupid long", but mentally, between this and the last round of the U.S. Open? Maybe not so much.

Not sure what Faldo and co. are complaining about with the bunker???

I am lost..VManBill, what are they gettin at?

If Johnson's second shot was from an "official" bunker, then he is eliminated because he grounded his club.

I just read on Golfwrx that a writer on pga.com stated that the players received a memo before the tournament informing them that all the sand areas are bunkers, no matter how far off the fairway.

Regardless, how can you rule it a hazard with that many spectators standing in the bunker?

Maybe he wasn't sure if it was a waste area or a sand trap - he's a professional, he should know that you never, ever ground your club in sand of any sort. Why take the chance? Unbelievable.

The PGA of American should be embarrassed, that is the worst call of the year in any sporting event

No, it's not. I feel for D.J., but the rules are the rules. He clearly grounded his club twice, at least. The video evidence is conclusive. It was definitely sand - trampled down by the gallery, yes, but still sand. The PGA has no choice but to make that call.

it resembled dead pan more than it did a bunker, especially with all those people standing around.

it's asinine fans are allowed to walk through bunkers. that is absolutely ridiculous. if it's a bunker, shouldn't it have a rake?

this all Pete Dye's fault.

but fans aren't allowed to stand in bunkers. there were fans standing in it.

he broke the rule as it was stated, no doubt. the problem is it was a simply stupid rule to have that in play as a bunker.

i hope Kymer chokes the fat one on this.
