A&M out of Gator Bowl

Sadly, Currie has now been completely out of contact for over 5 hours trying to secure an opponent. No one, including WF's Chancellor, seems to have a clue where he is. Reports are that he flew to Starkville, MS, to meet with Tghe Pirate about securing MSU for the bowl.

Developing..........

Mississippi State’s APR scores are way too low for any 5-7 exemption considerations.

Edit: My bad. Blanked for a moment and flipped Miss State’s record in my head.

Wonder if Coastal Carolina will step up?
No do not want to watch Coastal Carolina . Group of five should have their own 16 playoff. It would only boost their stock. But vs the big boys not good for TV. Big schools do not get up to play nobodies unless something is on the line like a playoff.

Good points. As COVID evolves, it will likely become more transmittable but less virulent, like most viruses. There is definitely a need to adapt the protocols as this happens. The NFL is being pretty nimble, and hopefully other sports will follow suit.

But....adapt AFTER uga forfeits their bowl. The VERY NEXT DAY!! That would be perfect.

as fast as this one spreads (it's more like a wild fire), unless they isolated immediately, there will be more.

good news is it's not as bad. It's extremely quick tho.

No; while it might strengthen it among themselves, it would probably weaken it with the overall college football audience, honestly.

Also kind of funny to hear Wake Forest getting called one of the “big boys”

Apparently 5-7 Illinois (who does have a high enough APR score) has already expressed interest if it comes to taking 5-7 teams.

And Marshall has expressed interest if it comes to the possibility of a team signing a waiver to play a second bowl game.

No clue. But their APR is much worse than ALOT of available 5-7 teams.

And 5-7 selections (for better or for worse) are prioritized in order by school’s APR scores.
Mississippi State is 7-5. They’re playing Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl. I think the guy was trying to make a John Currie/Mike Leach joke.

This . Hell LSU is bringing a damn skeleton crew to their bowl with only 51 players .

I'm hearing about 3 dozen scholarship players will be available for the bowl game, more players have opted out and about 7 are academically in trouble. Heck, LSU was playing tons of walk-ons for the last month of the season.

Wildcat left, wildcat right.... wildcat center. LOL

Great post.

Thoughts on this? The "layman's" answer is that the vaccines actually inhibit the development of natural immunity due to Covid infection. My take is those who take the vaccine incur some side effect risks while lowering their risk of death and severe symptoms however the unvaxed who recover from the virus appear to have significant and long lasting immunity from infection altogether:

SARS–CoV–2 Spike Impairs DNA Damage Repair and Inhibits V(D)J Recombination In Vitro
I agree. Adaptive immunity without immunization is usually going to be better for the body in the long run for nearly anything. That’s one of the reasons why the human body is such a beautiful thing imo. To have the ability to fight off so many things we are exposed to in the world is truly amazing.

Jimbo said he didn't have enough scholarship players. Hell, we have played under the limit all year and did pretty good. I'm thinking it's just an excuse by Jimbo.

This!! How do the not have 60 something players to play. I hope the SEC takes their cut out of the revenue sharing when every school gets checks in June. Why should you get a cut in something you did not participate in.

I'm surprised most haven't adapted like the NFL has. They're trying to use old protocols instead of improving or working in new ones.

Gotcha. My bad. Completely misunderstood and it escaped my mind that Vanderbilt was the only SEC school not in a bowl game.

Because the NFL is a smart business and they intend on making their money. The NCAA leaves the decisions up to the schools and there is not a lot of structure in that.

for all the fans who bought tickets and made travel plans, this has to be a major turn off

This doesn’t smell right. The bowl is 10 days away. Time enough to get well.

Injuries, transfers and opt-outs. Apparently Texas A&M had a rash of injuries. Plus tight end Jalen Wydermyer and running back Isaiah Spiller declared for the NFL draft. Quarterback Zach Calzada and DB Dreyden Norwood entered the transfer portal.

I think you'll see a lot more bowl opt outs by teams in the future. Players just don't care about 2nd or 3rd tier bowl games anymore.
