A message to the OGs (Original Grudenites)

Guys, I want to sincerely apologize. The info I was given was 100% legit. Hart didn't want Gruden here. That's what this boils down to. The boosters did the heavy lifting behind Harts backs and that really pissed him off. The boosters stopped every hire from happening until last night. Hart disconnected his phone so no one could stop it.

This is a dark age in UT football. Hart has signed his death certificate as AD.

Again, I'm sorry.

Now that I got that out of the way. I do appreciate you coming back and apologizing. I have no hard feelings (even if that last post made it seems like I do) towards anyone. After all lets not kid ourselves this is a message board. But thanks for sharing the info if you at least thought it was genuine. To be honest I would have done the exact same thing. :hi:

It's a smokescreen. Gruden is coming in for the press conference at 2:30.

So that's what it's all about huh? Making us all feel good?

Just like a politician during election season. Or the entire government, really. Stealing from you while telling you how many nice things they'll be doing with your money or how many people they need to bomb with it to keep you safe. It's all masturbation.

While I enjoyed the Gruden threads at first I feel like they ended up becoming part of the problem with this coaching search. Stringing people along with unrealistic exceptions, putting people down who was not in 100%. I should go back and find all the *******s you told me to shut up for questioning their fantasy, and it was done, Gruden is coming. The Gruden thread in the end deserved the hate it got.

Agreed VK. There were so many STFU's, GTFO's, and other vindictives in that post toward members who questioned their reasoning and basis for their claims. This was a clear indication of what that thread was all about. There were a lot more signs as well that a lot of folks were being misled.

Hi, Chuckles...remember me? You fired a shot across my bow a couple of months back. I tried to take it in good humor.

My turn.....

It turns out that hat was dead-on about Dooley, and "you" were dead wrong about Gruden. How ironic is that?

You've had an excuse, or a reason, or both, for every statement you've made that later proved to be...almost all of them...utterly wrong. This time, it's Hart's fault, and he "just signed his death certificate as AD".

Can't wait to read your excuse for that one when he's still here in 3 years.

You were right about one thing, though. Spot on, in fact.

You are sorry.

Go Vols.

Come on. The Boosters didn't stop Charlie Strong. If Harttruly went rogue then they would have removed him after the first hire attempt. Haslam used his plane to go to Louisville. That doesn't seem like he was upset.

He was quite happy today at the meet and greet and presser. I was directly behind him the entire presser and his conversation appeared to be filled with excitement about Coach Jones. Sure didn't sound like a guy that didn't get his way and was very amiable when talking to Dave Hart.

Hart turned off his phone last night? Seriously?

Damnation I can't believe I actually bought into this stuff.

Sorry but... No. Gruden never had any true intentions to come. I know this with as much "fact" as any one that said otherwise.

OGs were trolled, or they were trolling us, or they were just plain FOS.

Either way, a thanks certainly isn't in order. It would go a long way, IMO for them to start naming sources and let the rest if us come to our own conclusion as to what probably really happened.

No one owes anyone else an apology. It is the freaking Internet. I bought in because I wanted to, knowing that I would have to see to believe. No one should have to reveal sources- that is just idiotic. I personally believe that Jon Gruden legitimately discussed the head coaching position and had meaningful discussions based on info I heard and the article by Harges confirmed it. No need to ridicule others. We have a coach so lets go win some games.

I'm going with the FOS route on all of em, including TOS.....

Don't blame the OGs blame yourself. You believed in Shannon, Smith, Gruden, and every other troll job on this forum. Some of us tried to be reasonable, but like sheep you treated your fellow Vol fans like ****. Please use a little common sense next time when rumors pop on this board. We made fun of Grudenville while place turned into its own version of it. The power of wanting to believe is powerful.

Hart should be public enemy #1, not Butch Jones. People should rally behind him because this man can coach the game of football. This is something that has not been present for the past 3 years.

Little late getting to this thread but public enemy #1 is NOT Hart. The ones that need the boot are Jimmy Cheek and Susan Martin. They had Hart's hands tied here.

Nothing to be sorry for yay4bray...

Intelligent ppl will know who to blame for this and its Hart and Cheek.

In the meantime, we have to go be who we are.. WE ARE TENNESSEE!! Our players NEED us, our support, our dollars.. They NEED to know they did not make a mistake and that we have not abandoned them.

I for one, am in. Because I Love Tennessee. I am not turning my back on them.. or any of the OG's

The OG's have nothing to be ashamed of. And the people who are trashing them should try to control their glee in the OG's errors. The thing of it is, the people who wanted "Gruden" wanted nothing more than anyone else...a winner. A proud, respectable program returned to its proper place.

I was close to the AD in the early 90's, and I can totally envision what was going on during this search.

Gruden may or may not have been a real candidate to be our coach. But the thought of a coach with Tennessee ties, with national appeal, with a superb record, and the ability to turn the program around instantaneously was apparently too good to be true.

Jones may, or may not, be the answer to all of UT's football woes. But he certainly is not the type of hire that both inspires our fan base and puts fear into our rivals.

Well said my friend. We all just wanted somebody to save us. Gruden represented success. There's no need for the negavols to berate the believers. The reality: it's the most fun I've had as a UT fan in years! It felt great. Now...

I hope Jones is up to the task. I'll support him as I do every other UT coach. True UT fans will do the same. Let's give Butch a fighting chance. He really seems to love our school and I believe he'll work his ass off.
