A Possible Solution Presents Itself.

Also, don't discount the possibility of Pearl resigning at the end of the year. If he does that, he shows the 'AA contrition and probably avoids any kind of show cause order because he's not a repeat major offender. It would also benefit him in the court of public perception. He could go do television for a year or two, then step back into the game with a much better job than what he'll get if he plays this out and UT has to fire him and the 'AA clobbers him.

That's wishful thinking on your part.

Which part, specifically?

I thought it was pretty balanced, and will be most happy to defend it - if you'd like to attempt to poke some holes in it.

Please begin.

Or, would you prefer to shoot your mouth off and run? That'll definitely save me some time, and likely, you some embarassment.

If you had proof why didn't you post it. You hatophiles
post insults and retoric. Nothing else. It used to be that
our institutions taught people how to think for themselves, now they teach what to think. You hatophiles are so amusing. lmao:eek:lol:

What has Andy Kennedy proven at Ole Miss other than that his team is sometimes competitive?

You look for a good fit.

Auburn questioned the Chizik hire based on what he had proven - or not proven at Iowa State.

It used to be that people looked at public documents, like the letter terminating Pearl's contract, before shooting off their mouths and looking like idiots. Then, folks like you came along.

KnowtheVols just has reading comprehension issues. Glad to know his independent thinking he was taught doesn't require dealing with facts.

The letter terminating Pearl's contract states he tried to persuade recruits to lie to the NCAA? How would one go about getting a copy of this document?

The News Sentinel ran a copy of it the day it was made public. Hell, Pearl admitted in one of his weepfest interviews that he told the recruits not to talk about the barbecue. Of course, I wouldn't take Pearl at his word.

Again there is not a link to prove your point. :eek:lol:lmao

During the barbecue, he told the prospects it was an NCAA violation for them to be at his house and asked that they not tell anyone. He did not specifically try to persuade them to lie to the NCAA (unless I'm overlooking it).

That said, I forgot about him telling the NCAA he was unable to identify the woman in the picture, who turned out to be Jason Shay's wife. Ouch.

Also called the juniors that were there and reminded them of what he had said. Don't know what he said on those calls, but that couldn't look any worse. Saying you called to remind someone to tell the truth doesn't pass any smell test.

Especially when you specifically told them not to tell the truth initially.

Good luck to UT's compliance team in trying to sell that to the 'AA.

Understood. But regardless, the letter doesn't say Pearl tried to persuade recruits to lie to the NCAA. I think that was the discussion.

I believe the letter actually states Pearl contacted the father, not the recruit, to "remind him" of their earlier discussion.

Surely you don't buy the letter, which was written for the purposes of this investigation? Realistically, that thing is probably the absolute best case.

I agree. I was just pointing out that it is not stated anywhere in the letter that Pearl tried to persuade recruits to lie to the NCAA as was previously stated. It was a prospect's father that was contacted.

Again, I'm not arguing the facts of the case, but clarifying hatvol's assertion that the letter stated Pearl tried to persuade recruits to lie to the NCAA.

The letter certainly implied it and given its purpose, I can't imagine it meant anything else. Those calls are a problem, unless someone's asleep at the wheel.

He told them not to talk about it. By asking them to deny the existence of a flagrant NCAA violation, he was asking them to lie. The 'AA eligibility certification process includes players having not knowingly violated rules. If you want to play semantics to defend Pearl, have at it. I'll simply keep using the facts and logic to shred him.

I'm not defending him at all, just separating fact from speculation. Pearl did tell recruits not to tell anyone about their visit to his home. He did not call and try to persuade them to lie to the NCAA. I think that's a point worth clarifying. I'm sure you agree.

I don't think you'll get anyone to agree with the latter. We want it to be true, but it's a stretch at best.
