A Possible Solution Presents Itself.

I want what your smoking/drinking. I guess there is a reason why you practice law and breakdown and analyze the game and others hire head basketball coaches.
True, I've never had a choice of hiring either Bill Self or Jerry Green and chosen the latter. You showed me.

I would bet my car pearl isn't fired.

I would bet my house Larry brown wouldn't this job.

Before pearl, remember this was a coaching graveyard.

but just how drunk were you when you concocted this scenerio??? Larry Brown is going back to philly and enjoy his family. He is a very tired 73 year old man, this has zero chance of happening.

Larry Brown would be a great hire in a lot of respects, but you know he wouldn't stay for more than 2-3 years. He's so tedious that he wears out his welcome everywhere he's at within that time span.

If you're planning on pursuing him, you better have a shortlist of coaches ready.

How about lets wait until the NCAA hands down their determination before we fire the best basketball coach in UT's pathetic basketball history. I am willing to let Tony Jones cover it for a year while he serves his suspension, if indeed he is suspended.

Haven't Jones "recruitment" tactics been questioned throughout his career?

If, as becomes increasingly obvious, Pearl is suspended for at least a season and has to ultimately be terminated, the perfect coach to handle his absence/departure became available today. Larry Brown. How do you sell it to him? Simple. You tell him that Pearl is only being kept around out of loyalty and to ensure he is employable when his suspension ends. I raise that issure because if UT immediately fires him, there could be questions as to whether his suspension can be served while he's unemployed. That lets Brown, who has 3 or 4 good years left, settle in with the knowledge he's an interim coach in name only. It also gives you an extended window in which to seek out the long term answer. It's a win for everyone. Brown gets a big check without dealing with NBA egos, Pearl gets the issues resulting from his ethical lapse behind him, and UT keeps its basketball train on the tracks.

I like Larry Brown if Pearl is terminated - but if he declines - why not look at Tubby Smith at Minn.? Would he ever be considered?

With all due respect (if any is due) to everyone on here who thinks this can or will happen - this thread is absurd.
No way in $%^& that LBrown comes to Tennessee. Might as well say Rex Ryan, Mike Tomlin or even Peyton is the new football coach at Tennessee.

Greater chance of Jerry Green coming to coach again than there is of Brown coaching.

I'll be more than happy to eat my fair share of crow if I am wrong since that will mean Brown is coaching the Vols. I will not hold my breath.

I love the idea. If LB was here 3 to 4 years bring on a coach in waiting type of assistant (shouldn't be a problem under LB) by year two and have him take over when LB retires.

I'm thinking we shoot a little higher. How about John Wooden? He's not coached in years. Oh, wait, he's dead. Sorry. Larry Brown's probably a good idea. WTF

1. He's 70.
2. He went home to Philadelphia to "enjoy his family" after the Knicks ran him. How long did that last?
