A Possible Solution Presents Itself.

You can't realistically keep a coach who gets a suspension of a season or more. If the comments by the new NCAA president are to be taken at face value, that's exactly what he's about to get.

Ah c'mon, just cause he misremembered? Oh I forgot----don't lie to the Police. Meanwhile, A fedX package accidently came open and revealed----------:) and is likely still revealing.

Either you are relatively new here, winding up a 3 day crack binge or missed the 1000 Gruden posts on VolNation somehow. I hope you are new here.

Thanks. I needed that. Rebuttal of the year. Hilarious!!:eek:lol::eek:lol: Wow. :eek:hmy:

I thought Gruden was coaching football? ROTF.

How about lets wait until the NCAA hands down their determination before we fire the best basketball coach in UT's pathetic basketball history. I am willing to let Tony Jones cover it for a year while he serves his suspension, if indeed he is suspended.

What if Jones is as prominently mentioned in the report as BP?

BP's lies have placed him at center stage of this, but its unlikely to be a one-man show.

My understanding of the information that has been leaked is that all assistant coaches also lied. Interesting that there is no comments regarding possible sanctions regarding the entire staff.

gee whiz.

I guess I forgot to use my [/SARCASM].

I thought I covered all the bases, so that you would see that I HAD seen the previous 1000 Gruden posts.

my deepest apologies, and by the way it was only 2 days.

you may notice several posts back that some poor schmuck actually DID take me seriously..... huh?

Interesting point.

What if the entire staff is suspended?

Aren't you then in dire need of a hire along the lines of a Larry Brown, at that point?

When it's so obvious and they still miss it, just leave it alone. Don't explain...

VERY unlikely scenario! I'd say the chances are slim to none.

I just don't get it. Pearl is one of the best coaches in the game today and the likelihood of replacing him with anyone remotely close is virtually nil. The program would be better off just riding out the suspension no matter how long it is, then let Pearl come back and revive it. We know he can do it, he's done it before. If we must endure a down season or two, it's still better than rolling the dice on some new guy and likely returning to our perpetual basketball cellar. JMO

Two million gets a solid coach.

Let's see. I can have a team coached by one of the five best pure basketball coaches of the last quarter century or the genius in charge of UT's brilliant substitution patterns. That's not a hard decision for me.

I heard Larry Brown just celebrated his 110th birthday the other day. Although dealing with NBA egos may be a headache, it is nothing compared to dealing with recruiting, 17-18 year old kids, and the NCAA.

He's had success at the collegiate level. You worry about that with guys who haven't had that experience. Brown isn't one of those.

That was quite awhile ago and the landscape of college basketball has changed dramatically since the Danny Manning days...IMO.
