I think you are spot on. A spineless politician will always look for ways to look like they're siding with their constituents especially when it is all for show.I'm speculating that even the people behind such laws know there's no real way make that work. It does however give them the ability to claim they're all in on the fight.*
*Mind you I'm not saying they are necessarily pandering. If they really believe in the cause one would expect them to do what they can for that cause. I just find it difficult to believe even they think it would hold up under legal scrutiny.
You may feel differently, but as a Christian don't you believe God will forgive that sin if the person sincerely asks for it. If so, shouldn't we the practitioners do the same?Come judgement day when the mothers that chose to kill their unborn child and the workers who performed the act stand before our Almighty God to answer the question of " Why did you do this" I highly doubt the answer of ," it's my choice or it was my job" is going to be a viable excuse.
But would you support a 14-year-old's decision to remove his/her/their fetus?Children are not legal adults. So no.
There are legal adults in this country that truly feel at odds with their left foot. Truly feel out of place with it, that it is ‘wrong’ that it is there, and that they would be happier if it were not there.
If you are a legal adult, and can source the procedure, I will 100% support your right to remove your left foot.
I absolutely will not support a 14 year old’s “decision” to remove their left foot.
There are also some decisions we do not allow children to make at all, even with the consent of their parent or guardian. The essence of a free society is people with full expression of rights are able to make decisions (whether I like it or not) about themselves. If they were only allowed to do what I supported, it isn't a free society. Likewise, if I could only do what they supported, it isn't free.
Children and others with restricted rights can make decisions but those decisions have to be approved by their guardian or authority.
agreed. In that example, the authority (laws on statutory rape) trump parental consent. There are also some decisions we do not allow children to make at all, even with the consent of their parent or guardian.
Billy cannot provide consent to enter into a sexual reference with Mrs. Wheeler next door. And Billy’s parents cannot provide that consent on his behalf.
If there is actual remorse, we are required to forgive. That doesn't mean that there aren't consequences (legal and otherwise). You may feel differently, but as a Christian don't you believe God will forgive that sin if the person sincerely asks for it. If so, shouldn't we the practitioners do the same?
Well, they aren’t the same. One is the irreversible removal of a perfectly healthy limb. But would you support a 14-year-old's decision to remove his/her/their fetus?
Hopefully those that chose to kill ask for forgiveness. We do serve a merciful God.Come judgement day when the mothers that chose to kill their unborn child and the workers who performed the act stand before our Almighty God to answer the question of " Why did you do this" I highly doubt the answer of ," it's my choice or it was my job" is going to be a viable excuse.
I gently encourage you to be careful to make forgiveness conditional on sincerity if you cannot accurately discern sincerity. God knows their heart. All you and I can do is look at their actions (fruits). Not with 100% accuracy, no. But there are indications, just as there are indications of lack of remorse.
After all, we are expected to be able to judge with righteous judgment and to know true converts by tbeir fruits.
Activities illegal in one state or county and legal or decriminalized in another state or county already exist without federal involvement. Gambling, alcohol sales, prostitution, drug usage, etc. The difference between those "vices" and abortion is the state or county doesn't attempt to punish citizens when those illegal activities are done outside the citizen's jurisdiction. Doesn't a punished individual have a civil rights case against their county or state when it comes to traveling for abortion? The fed would only need to be involved at the judicial level if the case between a citizen and their state made it's way to SCOTUS.
