The revenue sharing thing is a band aid . They tried it in the Big 12 and you see where their big dogs are now. It may not happen next year or maybe in 2 or 3, but there is zero chance that these ACC schools will stay with the status quo while watching Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky and border schools like Tennessee bring in $50 million + more per year . There’s no way that happens. From what I've been reading, none of them actually want to leave. Not yet, anyway. The ones making all the unhappy noises (primarily FSU and Clemson, but including to a lesser extent UNC, NC State, Va Tech, UVA, and Miami) are making those noises in their argument to break the even-shares agreement. They want to be paid more if they bring in more. They want the conference's lions to have a lion's share.
In other words, they want to stay in the conference. And get paid more for it.
That's far different than trying to get out.
Indeed, it is most likely that if this play works out to the bigger programs' favor, it will be the little guys who start looking for a new home 12 years from now, when they can. The Pitts and Syracuses and Dukes.
But another thing all the experts seem to agree on: folks have been looking for a loophole in the ACC contract for the past 12 years, and haven't found one yet. They're unlikely to in the next 12, either.
Delusional as in the history of there program they think they are better than tennessee, well use to haven’t heard as much the last few years think they all went back into hiding…In the DC region, there are more Va Tech fans, despite UVa being much closer.
Isn't 'delusional' what you look for in SEC fans???
I don’t know how quickly they would change, but landing guys like Nathan Leacock, who literally went to high school right down the street from State would’ve been a lot more difficult. That’s why I don’t want teams like FSU or Clemson to join the conference. Why would we want them to have the same level of conference prestige as us? That’s our big recruiting chip to play against these ACC schools. When you come to Tennessee you play against the best in front 100K each week and you have a better chance to reach the League. Or you could go and play in front of 5K at BC on Friday night in October when everyone is watching the Red Sox instead?I agree. I think if NCS could get out from under UNC/ Duke and had exclusivity to the SEC brand in a state like NC we might see a much different NCSU.
How can you lump Soap in with the Golden Girls category? Those are dramatically different shows.Miami does not care one bit about The U.
They bring absolutely nothing to the SEC.
Large TV market............. yep. Watching reruns of "The Golden Girls" and "Soap"
Hard Pass
