Adonis Thomas to announce today

Pearl's going to have to really find creative recruiting strategies to get top notch b-ball recruits to come from Memphis to Knoxville. Memphis used their midnight madness video or speech (whatever it was) from Penny and Bruce is going to have to combat that with something that makes him feel very wanted at Tennessee. Something that will help a recruit reduce their hesitation of leaving Memphis and show them that they will be very successful at UT. Obviously, the recruiting violations is what probably hurt us this time but Pearl has a lot more succcess as Pastner as a head coach, so I think he needs to take recruiting advantage of this stage of Pastner's career and work on creative ways to bring elite Memphis talent to Knoxville.

He should have a video made with Lofton and Chism expounding the benefits of going to Knoxville where you are 3rd fiddle to football and women's bb, playing for 4 years, then getting to go to Turkey.

Or go to Memphis and get an education that spawns terms like "culpable deniability". You are an ignorant, uneducated troll. Go Away!

Effin' moron. THis is such a knee-jerk reaction response. Yeah, let Bruce go so we can end up irrelevant again. Bruce has learned from this mistake. We will be fine. YOu negavols never cease to amaze me.

Agree-

how many top 30 recruits did Tennessee have in 10 years prior to pearl? Sweet 16s?sec east titles?

Since pearl 4 top 30 recruits I know of, two on the team right now. Coming off a sweet 16 appearance. Three sec east titles in a row. Attendance thru the roof. The guy can flat out coach and recruit with the best of them.

Look, there's no need to disparage those of us that are both UT and UM fans. I grew up in Memphis, have been a UT fan since birth, thanks to my dad's early Vol indoctrination. Have always watched and supported both Vol Football and Vol Basketball along w/all other sports ever since I was old enough to walk. My dad graduated from UT and I don't see how anyone would have emerged from his house as anything but a die-hard, foam-at-the-mouth Vol till death. (Although, my little bro has recently started wearing UF garbage, but I'm pretty sure it's primarily just to piss my dad off.)

As for UM,I obviously grew up around the program and I went to school at Memphis. I was there for the better part of a decade while acquiring 3 degrees. I took classes with and have had many friends on both the football and basketball teams throughout the years.

I think that my dual fandom is clearly understandable and not deserving of any of these derogatory remarks.

I visit this board and follow the Vols everyday, and I can assure you I am as invested in the Vols as any fan possibly could be. Hell, I have even donated money to the stadium renovation fund. I spend an inordinate amount of time defending UT down here from other Tiger fans, Ole Miss fans, Florida fans, Auburn fans, Arkansas fans, and Alabama fans. I have certainly taken my share of crap for sporting my orange gear everywhere I go.

I don't expect anyone on here to like the Tigers or even give a crap about them, but to act like someone cannot legitimately love 2 different programs and further to talk about those of us that do as if we are not worthy or somehow less than any of you is insulting, disrespectful, and ignorant.

You guys want me gone, I'll never post again, but I take some of these comments personally and do not appreciate it. Talk trash all you want, Lord knows I do w/regards to other teams, but don't personally insult anyone that loves UT regardless of what other teams they pull for. We all want the same things, for our Vols to win, there's no need to run anyone off just bc you hate a team they like. Trolls bring criticism on themselves, but no one here has any room to act like they are more of a fan than any of the rest of us when you have no clue who they are nor what they feel.

Thanks for letting me vent and as always, Go Vols!

Tennessee won the SEC East last year? That'll come as news to a whole bunch of people.

Pearl can flat out recruit with the best of them. Just ask Bill Self about us snagging Selby.

Or the hidden gems in Johnson, Passley, and Jurick.

Dumbest post yet.

No, I think the following posts are finalists for that award:

Then not having a coach in place will sure get those recruits here.

Without Pearl we would not have got even a visit.

Anyone not wearing orange goggles knows that Pearl should have been fired for this. I've been a huge supporter of Bruce, but I'm not going to let my UT bias give Bruce a free pass.

I understand that most people want to keep Bruce. Hat might disagree, but I think he's a great coach. He's done a lot for Tennessee men's basketball, but this doesn't exonerate him from cheating and lying on multiple occasions. Tennessee is getting hammered by anyone with any sense for keeping Bruce as head coach.

When the NCAA imposes their sanctions on Tennessee, there is a good chance Bruce will be suspended from coaching for a year or more. What do we do then? Just wait for our hero to return? Hamilton needs to wipe the slate clean. Who knows, maybe this is his plan once the NCAA investigation is complete (and after this season).

The bottom line is that parents will not want their kid to play for Bruce Pearl. His clean image is gone, as it should be.

My guess is that both Hamilton and Pearl lose their job after the NCAA sanctions come down. It's a tough time to be a Tennessee fan. Trust me, I hate it as much as anyone.

I do not condone in any way, shape, or form what CBP did, but I think a lot of fans are having an epic over-reaction to this. The NCAA will levy out additional punishment, but I don't think that makes us anymore of a laughing stock than Calipari at UK or whatever IU or USC have been and are currently going though. Ask yourself one simple question when analyzing whether the BB program is better off now than 5 years ago - I think 95 percent of the people on this board would day yes even with these recent issues.

What's your best guess as to when Pearl will be fired?
Not sure he will be. He's not going to sign the contract UT has before him right now. Unless UT softens the termination language, he'll coach the year without a deal. That leaves it open for him to simply walk away and seek other employment at the end of the season.

I'll be the first to admit that Calipari is a crook. However, the NCAA has never sanctioned Cal for any wrongdoing. You can't really compare the trouble Cal's teams encountered to the trouble that Bruce is in.

Also, at IU, Sampson was fired. Any other comparisons you can think of?

I haven't heard anyone argue that Bruce hasn't improved the UT basketball program. It's very obvious that he has. Despite what most people believe, winning doesn't make it okay to cheat or lie to the NCAA. The NCAA doesn't care what good Bruce has done at Tennessee, they only care about the wrongs he recently committed, and they're going to nail him for it.

I hope he coaches the year without a deal. I don't see him at Tennessee past this season. The NCAA sanctions will obviously have something to say about when and where he coaches next.

Imagine how much easier it would have been on you if you would have simply listened to the truth about Pearl from the start?

I've admitted it often. I know. I just trusted the coach at UT more than posters on an anonymous message board that often asked me to suicide myself, ahem, so....
