Translation: Hat wins, I lose.
I do not condone in any way, shape, or form what CBP did, but I think a lot of fans are having an epic over-reaction to this. The NCAA will levy out additional punishment, but I don't think that makes us anymore of a laughing stock than Calipari at UK or whatever IU or USC have been and are currently going though. Ask yourself one simple question when analyzing whether the BB program is better off now than 5 years ago - I think 95 percent of the people on this board would day yes even with these recent issues.

Not necessarily. This season isn't going to be affected. UT should be really good. I don't see how anyone loses if Tennessee has a great season, then the parties decide a divorce is in order at the end of the season. Two of the three players involved in the initial violation are playing elsewhere. If Pearl & Co. aren't here, there's zero reason for the 'AA to hammer UT. Tennessee takes its posh facility and fat paycheck and hires a top notch coach. Pearl spends a couple of years penance as a TV analyst, then comes back. Everyone wins.I think with this one everyone loses.

That was a very different situation. The investigation took forever and the 'AA made a finding of widespread insitutional violations. Also, no punitive action was taken by the university against Pete Carroll. Further, Todd McNair remained on the staff until the penalties were meted out. Mike Garrett couldn't have been more arrogant in his dealings with the NCAA and it cost USC dearly. That's not how Mike Hamilton has handled things to this point.Seems unfair to punish the school, but look at USC Trojan football.
Hopefully we don't get no penalties in this investigation and he changes his mind. He seemed like in the govolsxtra article that it had alot to do with it. Hopefully Chris Jones changes his mind. I heard we should know something by December what our penalties will be. Is he signing in the early period or late?

If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time with that.
No reason it would take years to find the right coach. With the current salary we are paying and the improved facilities, we should be able to attract a top level coach with no problem. The program is much different now than when Pearl was hired. Everyone understands that it is now possible to have an elite program at UT.
How good do you think Tennessee will be? I feel like one thing Bruce Pearl has done well with is getting guys through adversity, so maybe this team will really impress. Not necessarily.
