Ainge going off on Graham!

So with all the great communication that this staff has had, am I the only one who feels that they should be saying something on this just for the benefit of PR

If they are as ticked off as it sounds like, why would they dignify his leaving with a response right now? If anything that's just free publicity for FSU at the moment. They shouldn't make a statement until they have a new coach in place, imo.

1. Through the Gruden search, coaching search, and all other aspects of UT Football, Ainge has been a top 3 resource. I take it all with a grain of salt, but I don't think he's the kind of guy to ruin his reputation just to get quick ratings.

2. As a CPA, I've never had a client have two job opportunities that were truly so close that it came down to state taxes.

3. The cost of living adjustment is silly here too - it's not like he's moving from Maryville to NYC on a 50k salary.

4. There will be a hire soon, when it happens, everyone will be all excited and flowery.

5. If I hear another bama/hart conspiracy theory linked to this, my head will explode.

6. My guess is it's probably something as simple as he doesn't gel with the new guys as he hoped and he wanted to work with his boy Randy Sanders. FSU is an easier job too, so I would think that's gotta be better for career advancement.

Throwing a former player under a bus in defense of a 2nd tier coach who has run off two present former players from coaching here is beyond belief.

Run off 2 former players? Wth? Are you kidding? Tee wasn't even here to run off in the first place. CBJ reached out to him as soon as he got the job to add Tee to the staff. Evidently Tees unrealistic salary demands and his wife kept him from joining the staff, not CBJ. Secondly, CBJ retained JG, doted over him in interviews, matched FSUs offer. How the hell is that running anybody off?

You Know, after thinking this over, and reading EA's comments, maybe Butch is just too demanding? Which will be OK by me.

There's been an appropriate level of communication from the program. Part of good leadership is appropriate communication.

A good leader does not come out and tell the world "I just let Bob go because of his drinking problem." Nor, "Bob is no longer with us because he thinks I'm a subpar manager." Nor, "Bob is no longer with us because the shop across town just doubled his salary."

A good leader, no matter what, will generally send out a communication that says roughly, "Bob has chosen to pursue other opportunities. We are thankful for everything he has done for the organization and wish him well in his future endeavors."

Its gonna be just like the Dooley situation: every player and assistant coach that says "hell no I'm not joining this debacle" is viewed as a traitor, or someone who just doesn't get that we have a great football coach. We neglect the common thread.

Hey! I loved Bob! Did we not match his offer? :)

I've always admired Coach Jay Graham, and I got nothing bad to say about him. His talent, professionalism, and dedication are not even questions in my mind. Coach Butch has his own way of doing things, but CJG has a good way of doing things, so his leaving gives me pause. I already miss his reassuring presence in Knoxville. It's a sad day, imo. Good luck, Coach Graham, and God bless.

JG saw the writing on the wall... He regretted leaving a winning team and doesnt see winning here anytime soon. Things will be much easier in the state of Florida and I dont blame him for going to a better situation.

Coaches are leaving here at an alarming rate, again, the writing is on the wall...
I am crying inside as I type this btw.

The gator's right on this one

This isn't epic-level Volnation meltdown. This is mostly people discussing a current event. The hyperbole on this site is enough in itself that we don't have to invent more of it.

Some are really angry, sure, but some are always angry about something. This does not mean everyone is jumping off a cliff. A dozen Volnation posters does not a fan base make.

Some assume it's Graham's "fault." Some assume it's Jones or the UT administration. The truth is most likely somewhere in the middle and much less interesting.

except this isn't a meltdown like he wants it to be. A few go over the top but that's not what the entire discussion has been like.

he wants this to be something it's not because that way he can giggle privately about how stupid UT fans are

discussion != meltdown
