The fact that you are on a Tennessee sports site so much and commenting, is beyond belief

Thank you San Diego Vol. I gave you a like for that. I was going to say something like 'the gator boards are elsewhere if you don't like the way Tennessee fans act'. It's unbelievable that people give this clown the time of day in here.

Coach Graham did his job; the HC has to be the closer. I have hopes for Coach Butch, but sometimes he comes across like a car salesman with a pom pom in his hand. His line about being here "thirty years" is nothing short of bizarre.

There is no choice; we have to shake this off and go on, but I do have concerns that a time will come when we will look back on this day.

Prior to CBJ, how many visits had Graham made to Hurd? When Graham was hired why did he tell Cross to look elsewhere? Why was his only plan a unqualified ECU recruit? Jay just flat out couldnt get it done. Ferguson and North are awesome recruits, but the 2013 draft had more to do with them than Jay did. I have been less than impressed with him, recruiting wise. At this point I dont know if I should give him credit for our improvement in the run game. Seems Pittman is a hot name right now.

So Graham left because he didn't want to work as hard as butch wants...na na na na hey hey good bye. I'd reather have a Guy that WANTS to be here then a Guy who's best qualities are he is a VFL

If a coach doesn't want to be at UT, then he should leave. Maybe CBJ can hire someone that really believes in and wants to be here. Same for the players. I would prefer one that wants to play for UT than one that is here only for personal gain.

According to Swain yesterday, there was some dissent between Graham and Azzani. He likened it to the Chuck Smith-Wilcox issue, stating that it is very difficult to get be happy when you do not agree with a coach on your side of the ball.

In the extended signing day presser... and it was a whirlwind day so I may be confused... but wasn't it Jay Graham that was using the presser to needle CBJ, in public, for an extended contract? Repeatedly.

IMHO, I thought that was inappropriate and unprofessional. That's not the time or place for contract negotiations, nor to put pressure on your boss.

I was afraid at the time that it may not go over well, and create bad mojo with CBJ.

Note: It was all done jokingly and may not have been a big deal. It was done jokingly, and he may not have meant anything by it, and CBJ may have taken issue with it. It may have been a non-factor.

Thigpen.

So now Jay Graham supposedly does not work hard...

And he really isn't that great of a recruiter...

Give me a break!!!

You can't have it both ways people. Graham was one of the best recruiters on UT's staff. CBJ gave recruiting coord, position to one of his guys. If Graham wasn't a good recruiter then why did CJF hire him as his recruiting coord???

One reason UT did not land a premier RB this year is because of the offensive scheme run by CBJ. And UT will continue to have that problem due to his scheme.

Coaches argue ALL the time.

Agree.

Dont think that applies to coach Graham tho. He did want to be here as a player and, atleast for awhile, as a coach.

I actually would like to propose a moratorium on the whole VFL thing. It's cute and all, but obviously means nothing to anyone but the fans. It's become an embarrassing irony.

Recruiting coordinator is not simply your best recruiter. It might be but that's not the requirement

I might be in the minority but I dont care that its Jay Graham leaving. I am more upset that we have to start over with yet another running backs coach and the last time I remember us having a really good running game was during the Bush administration.

Interesting...

Very good point. Why are we so far behind with Hurd if JG was doing his job getting Jalen to come to UT? He should've been living with Hurd making the transition from Drools to Butch seamless. Just asking, especially since JG didn't recruit any other top rbs to UT during his 2 recruiting cycles here.

This is good news, we need a fresh start after Dooley. There were residuals with Jay being here obviously, and we do not need them during this transition. I am a fan of Jay, but I think this is the best move for all parties. Do you really want Jay to be here if his heart isn't in it? I don't, and maybe that showed a lil with his recruiting of rbs this year.

First or second Bush administration? Been awhile.

So people are upset because Graham wanted to make more money and provide for his family. Who is to say that Graham and his style of play was a good fit for our new offense. Graham taught more power running and we are going to be a spread offense.

That makes no sense. No matter what style of offense we run, the RB's will need to run hard, and pick the correct running lanes. UT also matched FSU's offer.

The bottom to this is, no matter what the reason for Graham's leaving, we are better off without him, because he didn't want to be here. These players deserve to be coached by coaches who are all the way invested. They've spent the last 4 years being coached by guys who've had their foot halfway out the door for different reasons. (Some of the coaches didn't believe in themselves, some didn't believe in the university, some didn't believe in the guy sitting beside them, and some didn't believe in our players.)

I think Graham left for an easier gig, and I can respect that. I can also respect him for being man enough to admit it to himself, and not short change these players. One thing is for sure, Nick Saban, and his bunch down the road are working their tales off; and for UT to catch-up and be able match-up, our players, and our coaches are going to have to outwork them.

I also trust coach Butch Jones to bring in someone who is ready and willing to accept the challenge of rising to the top, and putting in the work to get us there. Life ain't easy for a college coach, but it's even harder for a coach in the SEC.

This makes sense. Resented Azzani is recruiting coordinator making more cash. We've probably all been there at some point. If this is true it was best he left.

The guy made a business decision. This doesn't make him a bad guy, a bad coach, or a bad recruiter. Further, not sure why some of you want to use this as an opportunity to bash Butch Jones and the Tennessee coaching staff. Let it go.

Most of you who are bashing Graham for not being VFL and loyal to the Orange are the same ones who were bashing Fulmer and Chavis and demanding that they be fired one year after playing in the SECCG. Loyalty should be a two way street.

But, to be honest, most of you just want to be miserable anyways and nothing will please you.
