Blaming the fans is getting incredibly old

So are you saying that you guys are not trying to influence somebody with the barrage of posts on this site? You just don't get to limit who you influence.. In this instance it could be players and their mentors as well as your intended targets.... Anybody confirm AP did not get this from the prospect directly? Oh and please don't throw the old if they are that sensitive Yada yada yada stuff out there. That is more than old.

The fans have every right to complain.

If you think every fan thinks like you do, then I can’t help you.

Agree.... fans get to complain about other fans for thinking like you do ALSO. Or do you have double standards... Coaches, players, fans, writers, all in play. Especially when a group of fans cost the rest of us a recruit.

Take it up with the fans that are tired of Pruitt.

It’s not just me.

We spend our hard earned money to watch them play and for what? What exactly are we getting in return?

Nothing.

Just curious, and you clearly don't have to answer if you dont want to, but over the last 3 years where have you spent your money with the program?

Pretty bad when I have to hate my own teams fan base more than my rival fan bases.

If a kid is shaken up over what is wrote on a rock.. that's pretty soft.. its just an excuse.. he knows, like everyone else in the world, that Pruitt is on the hot seat.. has nothing to do with our fans

To all the fans being dickheads, wanting Pruitt fired and ruining our good class we got now.

Arguing this point could mean never making a change. With the new transfer rules and how many kids are in the market you can easily afford to lose kids and replace them with the transfer market to bridge recruiting classes. I’d sacrifice this class to hit more targets in 2022 class. Pruitts not getting off the hot seat so you’ll it only miss this class but goodluck convincing the 22 kids.

I'm going to take a little umbrage with this position. It wasn't the fans who lost to GA State and BYU last year. It wasn't the fans who carried themselves like an arrogant a$$hat while dealing with other university employees and program constituents. It wasn't the fans who failed to effectively handle the team during the pandemic. It wasn't the fans who refused to acknowledge or accept the obvious and bench JG until it had alienated part of the team and most of the fan base. It wasn't the fans who held several blatantly condescending press conferences following losses in the past few weeks.

Fans can be over-exuberant and make stupid decisions, I don't dispute that. But this isn't that. This is Jeremy Pruitt refusing to lay in the pile of excrement that he's dropped at the feet of everyone who has an interest in the University of Tennessee football program. If Brooks bails because he's worried about Pruitt's future, that's on Pruitt, not the fans.

Getting there myself.

The optimal fan role is to be relentlessly supportive. Guess who needs fans, or a hand up when things are going perfect ? Effing no one lol. That is easy. You need them when everything else sucks.

The administration gets paid a lot of money to determine firings and hirings. Fans have zero input. Yet some act like they're the ones personally shelling out millions or that their livelihoods depend on these games. Losers. You bought a ticket and a t-shirt. You don't even have sweat equity. I've noticed that those most vocal about getting rid of coaches seem to be lacking a lot in their own lives, and football is their outlet. When that doesn't go how they want, they lash out like petulant children. If we lose for another 5 years and more of our rednecks head over to the bama wagon I'd consider it losses well spent.

A Tennessee win or loss has never personally affected my life. I just cheer for the boys in orange regardless, and sometimes it works out. I'm not happy with our W-L but being a toxic cry baby will only compound the issues facing our resurgence. A supportive fanbase should be the last thing UT has to worry about.

You’re only addressing the casual fan in this point. There are those that do in fact spend thousands on season tickets as well as donate thousands more in philanthropy towards the university. People trade their limited time on earth for money which is called a job. So to say they have no sweat equity is superficial at best because they’re giving up something more precious than a little sodium mixed with water. These people that I’m speaking of absolutely deserve a say in the direction of the program and to call them losers when most are probably more successful than most is relatively stupid. These donors and avid fans don’t have to give they choose to. Basically, your concept of what an optimal fan is is relative to a beaten dog that the owner expects the dog to unconditionally love it regardless of the abuses suffered at the hand of the owner. Well sorry, but that isn’t me and that’s not a lot of other fans that support this great university. Some may take it too far at times but please don’t be so shallow in your prognosis of the fans of this great university. God bless.

You will have to provide some documented evidence that the fans with the level of time and financial investment you pointed out are on these boards and taking the classless shots that were referenced in this thread. Bet they would take a more direct path to our admins to share their thoughts and convictions. We can agree for sure that they do exist.

I don’t have to prove anything to you. My finances or any other private citizen on this board is none of your damn business. I didn’t take a classless shot at anyone unless the thought of someone being financially better off than you is triggering you to call it classless.
