Alabama or OSU in the BCSCG?

No they don't. Alabama has a lot of solid wins and didn't lose to a single team that they were better than. OK St. also has a lot of solid wins, but has one TERRIBLE loss to Iowa St. Ok St. wouldn't have won their conference either had the #1 team in the nation been playing in it. How is it fair to Alabama to penalize them for playing in the same conference and division as the best team in the country?

You can't say they wouldn't have won their conference if the #1 team was in it. They have not played the #1 team. Alabama did. At home. They lost. They had their chance to prove that they were the #1 team in the country on their home field and they couldn't do it. Playing in the same conference and division as LSU was not so much a penalty as a privilege. Many other teams would love that shot. They blew it. Rewarding their failure would just prove what a joke the BCS really is.

It is time for someone else to get a shot. It is convenient for many to forget that Oklahoma State's loss was on a Friday night in the aftermath of OK State losing two coaches in a plane crash. Any team could be distracted in that situation whether the losses were on the football staff or not.

Take out Bama and LSU, those teams could hang with anyother SEC team this year.

The SEC overall was not that good this year.

The SEC was not that good. Bama and LSU were. They are the usual cream of the crop in the SEC. Okie State would be Arkansas in the SEC. Big deal.

Who gets in?

Judging from the poll results, I detect slight animosity towards the Bama program :whistling:. But in reality, they deserve to be in the title game. Their only loss ( and remember it was only 9-6 in OT) was to the #1 team in the country. Meanwhile OSU lost to unranked Iowa State. I don't think there's anything to be debated. LSU and Bama, the two best teams in the country, play for the NC. It ain't the perfect scenerio, but it's the best one we've got.

ESPN's poll...

Total votes: 232,967

24% Alabama
76% Oklahoma State

That's a lot of Tennessee fans. :p

Apparently Tennessee fans aren't the only ones that don't want Alabama in the title game.

It is an absurdly stupid poll. Of course the rest of the country has no interest in some backyard football game.

You just proved Bama's case. Bama played the #1 team in the country and lost by a FG. OK State played an unranked, 6-6 team and lost by 6. And they could have used the plane crash as a motivating factor (other teams have done that in the past). Bama is far superior to OK State and should be in the title game.

Hypothetical situations are useless here. You can't say that they would be exactly the same as Arkansas because you have jack **** to back that claim up.

True. However, this argument is about who the #2 team in the country is. Losing a game to #1 does not discount Alabama from consideration for that honor. In fact, losing by a FG in overtime only strengthens their argument IMO.

And how is allowing a team that lost to a pitiful Iowa St. team to play in the NC ahead of a team who's only loss is to #1 not rewarding failure?

They have no desire to see a rematch. Everyone outside of the south thought the first game was terrible and they don't want to watch it again. It's not like they have vested interest in Oklahoma State either.

Plus, you can see how it was voted by state. Alabama is currently the only state that votes they should get a rematch. So your theory is horse poopy

Better shut the thread down if were not allowing hypotheticals. Here are some facts. OSU lost to ISU, that is pathetic.

Hey, you guys multiply like rabbits and vote early and often. :wink2: The rest of the country outside the SEC (plus Vols) doesn't want an all SEC title game, for selfish reasons. But the #1 and #2 teams in the country happen to be in the SEC and should play for the NC. We have to take personal feelings out of it and do the math. Bama deserves it on paper.

The first game was great for people that enjoy football.

The rest of the states either hate the SEC and the southern states are a mix of ACC and SEC fans that dislike Bama. Anyway, I don't really care what some poll says. I prefer the 2 best teams play. That would be Bama and LSU.

Go ahead and debate who would win in a fight between Superman and the Green Lantern then. That makes as much sense.

Actually, it breaks the states down by votes in the poll and currently Alabama is the only state voting for a rematch. Although Mississippi is tied. Oklahoma State is leading in every other state

If UT was in the position that Bama's in, would you think that the Vols deserved another chance, having a stronger BCS result? Me thinks you would, mightily.

I didn't mind the game either and I think they are the two best teams. You don't have to care what the poll says but I was just pointing out that even the south doesn't want a rematch. I think the BCS may screw Bama over and cave into the fans demands. The general consensus in the midwest seems to be they're going to find something else to do with their night if it's a rematch. Not sure if they'll follow through but the ratings could be down if there is a rematch

All that would do is take objectivity out of the equation. UT fans as a group hate Alabama, but the rest of the country seems to share the opinion against a rematch.

I've said all along that I think Alabama deserves the shot.

As a fan though, I'd rather it be Oklahoma State.

Yea, and it would probably generate more interest. But it wouldn't be fair to Bama. Until we get a playoff system in college football, we'll continue to have these discussions.

Why would a game that everyone knows is going to be a complete blowout generate more interest than a game between two teams that are so evenly matched that they needed overtime to separate them in their first meeting?

The rest of the country will moan and groan about a rematch. then on game night they will turn on their tvs and watch it.

Wouldn't the same sentiments apply to those that say LSU would completely BLOW OUT Ok State? There's no proof until it happens. We already know the outcome of LSU v. Bama. Why rehash what we already know? JMHO

It was the highest rated regular season game in the last 20 years.
