Might be because guys like that don't pitch to us? Let's be honest. The "perception' of OSU/UGA throughout college football is just better than UT right now. I wonder how many of the recruits UGA/OSU signed had us in their top 3 as well? Yeah, we get a 5 star here and there that one of those 2 programs wanted, but for the most part, we seem, to my uneducated eye, to be swimming in different recruiting waters than the elite programs.Either OSU or UGA. We don’t swing for guys like that it seems.
Right. People don’t understand that it takes time and multiple successful seasons to get our name up there with those schools. In the meantime, this staff has to win with great evaluation and development until we get the name recognition back.Might be because guys like that don't pitch to us? Let's be honest. He's good enough that he'll start anywhere. He's going somewhere that can provide what he's looking for. UGA can give him money, exposure and titles. I still have to think winning matters to these guys....at least some of them. When I say "winning", I mean championships not just 8-9 wins and a bowl trip. They have a history of success. The last 20-ish years for us hasn't looked so hot in comparison. He’s going to UGA.
His dad is a coach at ETSU and played in the NFL. I doubt he is looking for short term influx of money. They are looking for development. He's good enough that he'll start anywhere. When you speak of development, I can only equate that to making it to the NFL which is the goal of most college players. Getting drafted in that first round makes you set for life no matter how your career goes. Base on that premise, it's still clear where top players looking for that payday are going to be looking to go out of HS. We ain't lookin' too shabby, but we're still down a bit on the draft ladder. His dad is a coach at ETSU and played in the NFL. I doubt he is looking for short term influx of money. Nah. We get guys from FCS schools basically and expect them to come right in and be SEC studs. I'm not sure Heupel's defense will ever be anything other than OK. Here's to hoping we score 50 a game. Probably going to need too.
