That was his only great class in his tenure and they were still terrible.
well you stated he couldnt recruit there i counted 14 guys he put into the nba in his tenure there. thats pretty impressive IMO. now what he did with the talent obviously was subpar but the guy clearly brought some talent through lexington.
wow...14 guys in the NBA? Are you also counting the NBA team he inherited? Rondo, Meeks, Chuck Hayes, Prince and Azubuike are the only ones he recruited that made it. Thats 5 NBA players in 10 seasons that actually played in the NBA. Thats extremely poor considering you're a top 3 basketball program and THE top program when it was taken over.
mohammed, sheppard, padgett, turner, magloire, bradley, prince, bogans, daniels, fitch, azubuke, hayes, rondo, morris, crawford, and meeks.
thats 16 according to a list i found im sure some of them for some reason arent right though.
Mohammed, Shapperd, Padgett, Turner and Magliore were Pitinos that Tubby inherited.
Daniels, Fitch, Morris and Crawford were not NBA guys. Morris may have played a a couple of games but he was cut. Daniels, Fitch and Crawford play overseas.
I did forget about Bogans. So thats 6 players in 10 seasons that went on to the NBA. That still bad. And if not for his 2004 class, only 4 guys went to the NBA...thats awful.
according to what i found magliore came in as a freshman tubby's first year. everyone of the other guys either drafted or were brought in on a team at some point, therefore they made it to the league. it's 12 guys.
these guys were all recruited by tubby smith and made it into the leage: bradley, prince, bogans, daniels, fitch, azubuke, hayes, rondo, morris, crawford, and meeks. 11 players he recruited made it into the league.
Nope, Magloire played under Pitino. Wiki, or wherever your getting the info is wrong.
Tubs landed 6 players that went on to the NBA. Those other guys you mentioned before played under Pitino. And the others that didnt, like Bradley, Crawford, etc are playing overseas...google the names. I believe a couple, like Morris were drafted deep into the draft only to get cut shortly after.
Depends what you call making it to the league. Do you consider Hopson going to the NBA, because he's now playing over seas just Crawford and Fitch.
Prince, Hayes, Rondo, Azubuike, Bogans, Meeks all made it. Other than that, the rest were flops that are learning a 2nd language.

im not saying active players thats not his problem, he put them into the league after that it's their job. he recruited 11 guys into the league in his tenure.
I count 6. I think your counting guys that sat the bench for a month and got cut. A lot of guys get picked up, they travel with the team for a half season and get canned. Darius Miller is projected right now to go late in the 2nd round. So he'll get drafted, probably sit the bench for a month and get cut. Then he'll go to Europe. I dont count that as a NBA guy.
Lets go on the high side and say 7. Even if he sent a legit 7 to the league thats terrible. Thats averaging about 2 NBA players every 3 years....very very low.

One 5 star player is comical. Six 4 star players are debatable, the top 100 are all 4 stars so its not like they were great (example- Jon Hood is a 4 star and he's about as worthless as Steven Pearl). And out of those 4 star players a few transferred. In 2006 UK had Sheray Thomas, Bobby Perry, Sparks (JUCO), Stockton, Obruzt and Ravi Moss running the team and starting. Not one of those guys could start for UT right now, no offense.
Tubby failed at UK because he couldnt recruit. Coaching wasnt his problem, he just couldnt land enough talent to win.
could he have brought in better talent, yes! did he bring in top 20 classes year after year, yes! you stated he brough in 2 and 3 star guys, he clearly brought in multiple 4 stars even a 5 star. the debate wasnt whether or not the scouting services were right or wrong it was what kind of players he brought in. he brought in highly rated guys, they didnt work out ok thats fine. he did bring in top ranked classes though, that has been proven.
Well, it depends on what you call "highly rated". By UK, UNC, Duke or Kansas standards? No.
you said in the last 5 years before cal the coaches brought in 2 and 3 star guys and jucos. they in fact brought in 5 start and multiple 4 starts, that was the point, you were wrong in what you said simple as that. ive spent too much time discussing UK talent.
