Seriously, the dude registered a TD from QB and a sack in the same game. Let's give credit where credit is due. Campbell worked some miracles.
JMS, would you really want to try winning Big 12 games with a LB cause he "had some spot starts" at QB?
You do realize that Joel Lanning was recruited to Iowa State as a QB right? Then they got that kid who started this year and last year and Lanning got buried. Instead of transferring, he decided to play linebacker.
It's not like he couldn't have played QB all season if asked to.
You do realize that means he practiced with the defense all offseason then, right? Hopping positions during a game is hardly a cakewalk. I assume you were an All-American QB and safety in college, so you're hating based on experience...
Hate to break it to you, but TN needs QB depth immediately. This guy has more bargaining power than Tennessee does.
Oregon State is a school that apparently is in on him too. Since they are a school that is horrible, he could easily tell them the only way he takes that huge risk to go there is he has to be the starter.
Now, he should (should in terms of having starting job options at different schools) have that same power for wherever he goes outside of Bama. There is not legitimate argument one could make that would be against him starting here. Sure we all have our fanboys, but this kid would be our best option to play right away in a pro style offense.
Maybe I'm not clear on what you meant.
You want to bring him in, and tell him it's his job to lose, that's one thing. You want to guarantee him that he's the starter for the year, I don't see this staff doing that. That's what reminds me of Chris Simms.

Is the other transfer on this list?

I don't understand why any grad transfer QB who is going to be one and done no matter what would even consider an offer than was anything less than an almost guaranteed starter's job.
If he does agree to play for UT, it is a pretty good indicator of the current staff's evaluations of the QBs on the current roster.
And of course, there's the thought that with all of them starting on equal ground in the new system, Wagner would be the best skilled to win the position in any case.
He also had a similar long touchdown run against Boston College in 2016. The video is youtube.Wagner vs Saint Anselm Highlights - YouTube
Only video I could find on him. Actually has a really nice run in the fourth quarter. He is on the green team.
The thing is, we saw McBride play, and make plays, with both arm and feet. Screw stats at this point -- he was thrown into the fire at mid-season as a true freshman.
I'm not arguing that he's our best guy right now, but I do look forward to seeing him develop with time.
And one more thing ... I'm not saying don't take a grad transfer -- I'll be glad to leave that decision to the coaches.
But, I will point out that in a bad luck scenario where both JG and McB went down, we would have another guy that can play QB, now that Jennings is going to be back on team.
