Amateur Hour Continues

Not per anything which I have ever read... and it really doesn't matter anyway. I'm not arguing over this piece of garbage. This guy helped to propagate one of our oldest and most violent hate groups. Some mistakes in life, are not forgivable. We don't forgive Nazi party membership and we shouldn't forgive KKK membership either.
Interesting take. HRC was close to Robert Byrd.

But "we" did forgive Nazi party membership when it was beneficial to the USA.
Yes, we did.... we don't go to the moon without Dr. Wernher von Braun, the first Director of NASA. He was the single most important figure of the space race. He was also a former Nazi, who had worked in a camp where slave labor was used. Many Russian prisoner's of war died. I do not need a history lesson on the paperclip scientists.

I understand that some people will choose to view this guy's legacy as "complicated" and that's fine. I will still say that there are more deserving people than this to honor. This will only serve as a source of ridicule for the state of Tennessee and we don't need it.

I do respect what you have to say ... much more than a number of people here. Almost everything not provable by numbers can be considered somewhat abstract (not the best word for my thought but it's like "now, why did I go to the refrigerator"). Anyway perspectives on people and events generally vary; so, yeah, there are more deserving people, and probably some more famous who are less deserving. But as a number of people have pointed out they weren't even aware of NBFD ... neither was I, and there are any number of other days set aside as special that I'm absolutely certain neither of us knows about, and we might both agree that any number of those days are absurd. I have no idea who started the issue and certainly none regarding why a has been like Cruz from a state with its own problems would jump in on virtually a non event, but if this is a major source of ridicule for the state, then we aren't doing too bad at all.

A lot of Germans were forced to be Nazi's for preservation reasons. It's a case by case thing just like anything else.

Only in the case of the Hitler youth. If you were an adult, there were other options. Those who were forced to fight for Germany did not have to join the Nazi party to do so... Erwin Rommel, for example, did not. Either way, there is no defending those who worked in the camps or made selections.

I did not know about Rommel. Most people had three options... Join, flee, or die. I agree with the last sentence. The only way we end up with Fascism, Marxism, Authoritarianism, Totalitarianism, or just basic despotism is if one political party gets too powerful and constitutional rights get eroded.

Most people consider anyone who fought for Germany in WWII to be a Nazi whether they were an official party member or not.

The proclamation went viral on Twitter.

Other holidays in the same statute:

January 19, "Robert E. Lee Day"; February 12, "Abraham Lincoln Day"; March 15, "Andrew Jackson Day"; June 3, "Memorial Day" or "Confederate Decoration Day"; July 13, "Nathan Bedford Forrest Day"; and November 11, "Veterans' Day."

Does this mean you are from middle TN. I'm near Chattanooga, and every time I drive down from Monteagle, I feel like I'm going home. I avoid Nashville like the plague and wish I could Chattanooga. I was driving back roads to connect the ends of 840 to avoid Nashville to get to 40 going west.
Yes. Im in Mid Tn.
I make use of 840 whenever possible, too. The main arteries passing through Nashville are all crowded. 65, 40, and 24 are parking lots during rush hours.
Chattanooga has gotten so much worse over the last 10 years, too. The traffic there combined with the traffic around Marietta are why I go through B'ham and hit 20 east.
I am grateful i do not have a commute everyday.

Both my brothers and my mom live in the Franklin/Brentwood area so I see it every time I go home. (Next weekend)

Lol i didn’t ever make that connect , even though I thought I remembered you saying you grew up in “ crashville “ . My mom also lives in Nashville , I will gladly buy you a beer if we are ever in the area at the same time .

It is my take and that is for the people of West Virginia to explain. I didn't vote for him.

That is interesting , you also didn’t vote for NBF . The interesting part is how selective we become in accountability / forgiveness . Im just talking in general because I understand you said that’s just your take on the matter .

Per Time.com: With the resignation of Alex Acosta as Secretary of Labor, Trump's cabinet has now, in two and a half years, surpassed the amount of turnover that Barack Obama's cabinet had in the 8 years he was President.

So the government does forgive participation in malicious organizations when the individual in question has something valuable to offer.

Up until a point in the 1980's when there was a backlash as the public began learning more about it. Some of those scientists, such as V-2 Rocket Engineer Arthur Rudolph, were eventually deported. Rudolph, was forced to sign a non-prosecutorial agreement where he would renounce his U.S. citizenship and return to Germany. His pension was also stripped.
