Amazing how in one week

I was surprised by JGs departure too. Gets rid of the VFL perception. Not sure why he left USCe in the first place if UT wasn't his destination job.

Anyway we hired a coach with almost the exact same credentials, but has coached more NFL RBs. Hopefully he will be as good or better.

He also fis the negavols criteria of coaching in the SEC. I have no criticism of him, looks like a good hire and a very good hire under the circumstances. He of course is a hired gun, but it turns out JG was too, so not sure if we will find someone loyal to the school. Best case is they are loyal to CBJ and want to stay with him for a few years.

If Graham wasn't UT alum no one would have cared about his departure. I guess loyalty just doesn't exist among football coaches. I think we probably did upgrade. Forget about Graham, he will move to another program, and another and be a journeyman coach for the rest of his career.

It's all about the M-O-N-E-Y!

Its funny how people start these threads to ***** and complain about how bad a hire or something is. Then they don't post in the thread after they start it, I guess that's trolling 101. I bet if the OP won the lottery he would complain about the taxes.

Ready for the wins to start racking up and all this seem like a bad dream. Anybody got list of players he's put in pro's.

The other way of looking at it is that our coaching staff should be smarter than all of the other SEC teams

Agree.

And, on a related note, Ferris State University is calling Butch Jones a traitor.

So let me see here.... Gillispie was born in Mississippi (recruiting ties), played in Florida (Florida ties), coached in South Carolina (S Carolina ties), coached in Oklahoma (Oklahoma ties), Coached in West Va (W Va and Va ties) and all you can come up with is he's another Big East wannabe? Pure idiocy. By and large, even though he quit, JG is wished well and thanked for his time. Gillispie is a good hire by a good coach (CBJ) with a winning track record. Stupid thread to begin with.

Like NOSIREE. I believe that he is infamous for that. Well that and flying off the handle when he gets flamed.

its common human nature.

when your girl friend dumps you, then you dont like em much anymore.

but when you get a new girl friend they are the best thing ever.

its simple really.

the real question is why you made a thread about it.

Just because it's common human nature doesn't mean it isn't stupid. We humans have demonstrated that repeatedly.

It's also amazing how no matter what happens people will moan about it and make threads about how UT's coaches suck even though they haven't coached a game yet.

I think it's amazing under this same basis people make threads for the excuses haters will use after we win a national championship soon. There are two sides to the delusion here on rocky top.

I am one of the most optimistic fans I know. Yes, I think the new hire is a great one. Yes, I believe we can have a great '13 season. Yes, I am convinced Butch Jones is the man to lead us back to the top. To me, being a fan means you SHOULD be a little delusional about your team's chances. Therefore, CBJ has assembled the BEST STAFF IN AMERICA. And if someone else leaves this week, it will somehow get even better!

The hire isn't bad. The notion that Jay Graham didn't have a reason for his departure and make a good career move for himself is stupid though.

The perception is all the sudden Jay Graham can't find his ass with both hands ,and another Big East wannabe coach gets a job here and becomes a Greek God...

Good ole Rocky top....

What's amazing is that we swapped Jay Graham, who didn't deliver one top RB to us this year for a Top 50 nationally ranked recruiter WITH Southern ties and you fail to acknowledge it.

That's just the way of the football forum, particularly in the offseason. The sheep relentlessly slurp anything and everything the coach does and anyone who raises concerns is immediately shouted down by people constantly playing their "True Fan" and "You're not VFL!" cards. Anyone who disputes my claim clearly wasn't here for the past three seasons while the sheep took the absurd stance of endlessly defending the worst coach in school history, despite a mountain of tangible evidence against them.

JG can't recruit

JG can't coach

JG sucks

which is why a better program with more money hired him away from UT

We lost a good coach and got another good one. Only reason it matters is because people got their feelings hurt.

Once he settles in, does anyone think there will be a dropoff? No. Not in recruiting or performance on the field. So if JG was that valuable according to some, how could he be replaced so easily.
