Looks like a pass for me. There's a reason why their videos are getting ratio'd on YouTube.

I wasted time looking into this comment. People sure are dedicated to that shtick.

Will still watch and hope to be entertained.

Trailers look good to me.

Over the summer I read the Hobbit and Fellowship to my kids (the we watched the movies). Currently 3 chapters into Two Towers. They are all in on Middle Earth right now. They will enjoy it for sure.

Same here. Why dislike the trailers? They are fine. If they looked like garbage I would understand. People are just doing it to do it. I am a huge fan of the original trilogy, have been since I was a kid. So I feel like I can confidently speak for that age group. I’m not sure why people are hating on it. Nothing is ever going to touch Jackson’s original films. We know this. The hobbit films proved it, even though they were Jackson’s work as well. Doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy them.

People are not disliking it to dislike it. Vast majority of the dislikes are from huge fans of Tolkien's novels that have seen that this series is not true to his work in the slightest.

It based off of details in the appendices of LotR. More or less just notes. It was overseen by the Tolkien estate. What do these purists want? Tolkien to return from the dead and write the scripts himself?

Watched first 2 episodes. Not too bad, jury is still out. They've taken a fair bit of liberties with it, but maybe not in a bad way. I know just enough of the middle earth history outside the hobbit/ lotr books to know that some stuff is off, but I'm not so well versed that changes are game breaking for me. I look forward to the next episode.

Silmarillion was finished/ written by Christopher Tolkein. Which apparently he's dead too, anyway. Have revisited Sill several times in my mind in reading Trilogy, Hobbit, et al (which Morgoth corresponds to other books also), always forgetting the exact storyline.

Super excited to see live action of Sauron's backstory. Always wanted to see Gothmog and other Balrog's in live action.

Again super cool to see Sauron as shapeshifter.

Um yeah….a lot are.

Maybe it sucks, I have no idea yet; but I know a lot of the dislikes were based on the same tired b******* from the usual suspects.

Sounds like that's exactly what they're doing. Pretty fkn lame, if you ask me.

I found the first 2 episodes very entertaining. I’m not beholden to any existing storyline, and this one has me interested.

The only legit criticism I’ve heard so far is the first two are a little slow and plodding.

To which I have to ask… did you ever read Tolkien bro? 😂
First episode was in my opinion, but I'm good with that. They have a ton of ground work to layout. Second one picked it up a little more.

While I'm grateful that Peter Jackson brought the trilogy to the big screen in an epic way I found it at times to be more intent on cool CGI stuff than story. This was particularly true in the Hobbit.

In contrast I've found this production so far to be a better balance of story and insane action scene - I hope it continues that way. Maybe it's more interesting because I don't know the story but when I've tried to rewatch LoTR it's a bit too much pure good vs pure evil and CGI overload.
