30%% of me is lauging at that. 70% of me is saying that is why the current administration is able to spout out stats like they do

What's in the bill is not as important, to me at least, on who's going to foot the tab on these great ideas. Great in principle but no $$ to back it up.

That's a good motto for when the Patriot Act was passed too. I'm assuming that you were just as upset, if not more, when it passed because it does far more to take away liberties and freedoms that this bill does. Bush and Obama can take the blame for that one.

no because this bill on helps a certain group of people, and is aimed specifically taking away from one group and giving to another, plus it was only approved through gerrymandering, and loopholes. Whereas the PATRIOT ACT was to protect everyone, and it was voted in overwhelmingly

the Patriot Act passed with bi-partisan support and was recently renewed by the Teleprompter Jesus administration.

it also doesn't take over 1/6th of the US economy

I could care less about the civil rights of terrorists and the useful idiots who help them

I am not one for giving the government any power to spy on its own people.

The PA opened up way too many avenues for the FG

I see that point. But i mean honestly, do you really think that there are people that are sitting around and spying on our every move?

If they are, then they have a crappy job following me around. I have nothing to hide, and if it keeps me and my family safe, then im all for it. I have no problem beating the hell out of some coward terrorists to get info to save countless American lives.

Also, in the Preamble, it says that the government is to provide the common defense of the land.

If you actually read the act, the PATRIOT Act, it was mainly a consolidation, and update of laws that were already on the books, and it eliminated some inter-department red tape

I know this is going to throw every one off...................... but I think the constitution does grant rights to people who we have custody over, why?

The rights of both citizens and non citizens are protected by the US Constitution. However, there are some right specifically reserved for citizens, such as the right to a Federal job and to vote.


Furthermore, the Constitution doesn't apply to citizens, and it doesn't even apply to people. It applies to the government. It tells the government what it can and can't do. The body tells the government what it can do, and the Bill of Rights tells it what it can't do.
I guess the real question is whether or not the constitution follows the flag.
