The government is not now nor ever has been set up to run a business model program . All business model programs have to operate with a budget and pay the price of going under if they don’t . The government runs bad programs off of bad models continuously because they have no repercussions. The other thing we all know is once health care for all goes into effect the government will be done with it as far as making it efficient.

You have lost your mind if you think the pennies on the dollar that the poor pay for ACA comes close to offsetting the increased price, increased deductibles, and worse coverage the 90% of insured people received due to ACA.

If the government is put in control of the healthcare system it will bloat the system with admins , the quality of care will diminish and our taxes will go up to pay for the huge mess it creates . I really can’t address the mental and physical effects of being in our system. I haven’t witnessed any of that. What I have witnessed is a stage 4 cancer patient recover, a same day MRI that detected a potentially life threatening problem and have heard horror stories first hand about Australia’s system.

Trust me, the for profit industry makes sure you aren’t getting the best care you can. They understaff nurses to dangerous levels, spread way too thin. They push you out of the hospital, sometimes too soon, to both increase their profit from your stay and to keep the assembly line of patients (revenue factory) rolling through. They don’t buy the best materials or equipment for your care, they buy the cheapest that they can get away with. A lot of improvisation happens, yes, even in surgery.

So if your contention is that the govt run system wouldn’t be better, the bar is pretty low. Plus, you can go bankrupt with a cancer diagnosis or heart condition in our system, so there’s that.

You can add U.K. and Canadian systems to that also . I have friends in both and they have long waiting periods ( months ) for things like MRIs . My friend in the U.K. is always busting my chops about the US not having a national healthcare problem but when I pressed him on it his exact words were .. “ no I have private insurance, that National crap is for poor people that will die waiting on MRIs to tell them what’s wrong “
