An unhappy, unmotivated fanbase..........

Come on man. You can't be expected to be taken seriously if you're going to post drivel like this.

He at least won games in the SEC....not saying I would have liked him either. Rather, that I would be more plussed by him says about where I am at....I would have laughed my butt off it had been him, and still been just "wow" but at least I could appreciate the imagination, as Terry is a very good and proven coach. The more so if you know full story of what happened to him and why.....and he has won at high level before.

Nothing wrong with being concerned or being on the fence or saying you will wait and see.

Saying Hart should be fired immediately...those fans can find someone else to root for. Please!

I will wait and see, just seriously concerned. Like i said this in NOT a big splash hire, especially when NFL coaching names were mentioned.

Really? you know this how? Because multiple reports have said money was right but his unwillingness to budge on control issues scared a few off.

Were those from the same sources claiming Gruden, Strong were already hired.

You people believe whatever is written.

If its on the Internet it must be true.

Oh for the love of God, people. How many conference championships as head coaches have Bo Pelini and Charlie Strong won combined? ONE! Pelini has won division championships in both the Big 12 and Big Ten, but he's an "O"-for on legitimate conference titles. Strong just won his first conference title this year along with, you guessed it, Butch Jones and the Cincinnati Bearcats. So I don't know where all these crazy ideas come from whereby you predict that Jones will be a failure at Tennessee, but you can put those worries to bed. He's going to turn this program around within two to three years.

By the way, Jones just won his fourth conference title in six years as a head coach. I'd say that justifies him as being able to win at a high level, particularly at Cincinnati. Last year, they finished in the Top 25. Where was Tennessee? Also, not only was Cincinnati winning the conference championship last year, it was winning an award that is far more indicative of what kind of coach Butch Jones is and what kind of culture he will promote for us: Cincinnati won the Big East's team academic award. So I don't know why people think this as being a horrible hire, but I think it was a very astute job by Hart finding a guy who would not only make sure that we will field competitive teams in the future and, in the words of Jones himself, compete for conference and national championships, but he is also committed to preparing his student-athletes for life outside of football since most NCAA football players do not go on to play in the NFL.

does losing eventually lead to being happy....I sure do hope so.....being happy should be right around the corner

Why are so many people refusing to see the fact that we just significantly upgraded the head coaching position? No, it wasn't a rock star hire, or even a huge name. But from all accounts, and according to his record, the man can coach.

Some of the biggest knocks I've heard on him include the fact that he just took over programs that Kelly built. Well....so what? He was able to keep the success going, and that's the most important thing. 90 percent of the time, bad football coaches are NOT able to do that. Look at the guy who took over for Tom Osborne. Another knock on him has been his recruiting....and again....do people not understand the difference between Central Michigan and Cincinnati compared to UT? Here, he has the resources to assemble a staff with better recruiters and will also have much better facilities, tradition, and support.

I'm not saying this is a home run hire, because that remains to be seen, but all I know is we brought in a guy who is 50-27 all time as a head coach, has a 32-12 record in conference play, and led his teams to at least a share of a conference title in 4 out of his 6 years as a head coach.

I'd say those credentials are a pretty damn steep improvement over the last guy we had roaming our sidelines.

This...You can question his conference and the level of competition, but his record speaks for itself. The man has won football games. Let's hope he can win games for us. I think he will.

Come on folks, give the guy a chance before you start jumping off the deep end. I liked that he said in the press conference he wanted to win, both conference and national championships. Sure, talk is talk, but its better than saying it will take years to get Tennessee back to national prominence. So put on your big boy pants and support our coach. I think it is a good hire and i am excited for the next season to come around.

FINALLY!!! Someone who makes sense!!! I've been looking for you for the last twelve hours of my life! Where have you been?!

As I said in my previous post, too, this guy cares about his players getting the grades it takes to graduate. He won the Big East team academic award in 2011 along with the conference championship, so I think that's worth looking at as a big plus with Jones.

The face of Tennessee football is about to drastically change. There will still be difficult days ahead of us, but I happen to believe that within two to three years, we'll be back at or near the top of the SEC East Division competing with the likes of Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.

Is anyone excited?

Screw it,I am! I was extremely pissed all day. Then I calmed down and came to my senses and realized that no matter what I love Tennessee football and that will never change no matter who is the coach. So I say what the he** lets give this bastard a chance. Who knows,he might actually turn out to be a great coach. A divided fanbase and a empty Neyland stadium does nothing but hurt the program and make things worse and less desirable of a coaching destination than it already is. GO VOLS!

All my friends at work, who are bammers, were trying their best to convert me to a bammer all day...I just laughed at them and told them that things could never get THAT bad,and that would never happen anyway cause then I would have to HATE myself.

I completely agree.

I am of the opinion that the people we should be angry at are at the Chancellor and BOT level. The people that eliminated academic programs that exist at other SEC schools that are favored by athletes. College athletes should be able to major in phys ed education. Two of my high school phys ed teachers were former Vols (Lady Vol and football player). Just one of the real world, practical majors eliminated by the Chancellor and his crowd. The number one goal of the university is college education for the people of TN. Trying to be a top 25 research university actually undermines this goal. Academics and athletics are not mutually exclusive.

Time to run Cheek and Martin out of town. Their policies have led us into this mess. Hard to tell what kind of AD Hart could be with those two tying both hands behind his back. At least Hart has the spine to point out the issues unlike Hamilton who just rolled over for these idiots.

I guess there will be a empty Neyland for a few more years of the some old ****. Really we just got our coach from Cincinnati. Why not just hire a high school coach. I find it hard to believe that this is the best that they could get. This is just a joke.

Look at the last few coaches that came out of Cincinnati, I would say that they turned out pretty damn well. Have some faith!

I guess because some of us have an opinion and aren't sheep we're "fairweather" fans.Because we don't agree who the AD is shoving down our throat we're bandwagon fans.Look I hope this guy works out.Do I think he will? No.Hart,Cheek&Martin need to move on IMO!I know the guy has a winning record, but you also gotta look at the conference he was in.The big east!I'm just reluctant to go ALL IN this time after the Kiffin and Dooley disaster!Les miles? He jumped into a goldmine, ready made championship team with Saban's recruits!I'll give him this,he did enough to keep getting good recruits. Also doesn't hurt louisiana has great talent.Anyway,I just wanna see how he finishes this recruiting class with and what the staff looks like.

The saddest part of this hire for me is that ARKANSAS has managed to hire considerably bigger names for their last two coaches than UT. Why? Arkansas gets Petrino / Tennessee gets Dooley...Arkansas gets Bielema / Tennessee gets Jones. Either Tennessee, for some reason, is less attractive to potential coaches than Arkansas, who faces LSU and Alabama...OR, the hiring efforts of UT have been deficient. For clarity, I'm not suggesting Bielema is a home run hire, but he is undeniably more highly regarded than Jones. From my perspective, it appears as though Arkansas' AD has simply been more determined. Why?
