So, since September 10th, he has done...
1) Commit the bump violation, which is easy to remember (confirmed by everyone).
2) Gave a player(s) extra tickets for a game (Hubbs reporting).
3) Lied to the media (and maybe his bosses) about a player who failed a drug test and said he had a bad back (Katz).
4) Violated his off campus recruiting violations which he agreed to (unconfirmed, but Zas is as reliable as they come on the board).
Incredible.
I'm pretty sure that didn't happen, but yes to the rest. However, I find it hard to believe that the Athletic Dept. doesn't know about the drug results and only the coach does. Who cares if he lied to the media, but it will be interesting to know if he lied to his bosses because I can't see a way in which he did.
someone seen Pearl pulling a grill behind his car.
I found someone that has surpassed Rucker today.... Clay travis has claimed the title in a land slide.
In addition to twitter.... dude went on Memphis radio...claimed the be the foremost "reporter" or "journalist" that covers the Vols....calles himself the "Pulse" of UT Athletics...blah blah bah... went on to say this is the most unpopular firing in modern day Athletics and that Tennessee's basketball program was finished....
Remembered your post from earlier and thought I would share
Sometimes less is more. If we would've issued a simple statement from the start, the categorical "This is what we're doing with Pearl now...and we will evaluate our options at the end of the season," then there would've been no need for this constant justification.
I don't blame the fans. For months, they received a message from UTAD and Cheek. If you've been a big fan of Bruce Pearl, then it is going to be difficult to understand a poorly-timed and handled about-face and then firing of the coach.
A non-committal front should have been put up in the first place. It wasn't. And UTAD now reaps the backlash for the inability to communicate with its fanbase.
so the March violations were extra tickets to a current player and sitting a player for a failed drug test but calling it a bad back?
much ado about nothing.
I guess they have their reasons for including that stuff in the press release but these are petty, everyday offenses.
I just can't bring myself to worry a shred about Bruce Pearl's dignity. He already took it away himself. The man burned down the basketball program; he may have ended Mike Hamilton's time at Tennessee. I wouldn't blame Hamilton if he'd held a press conference today and stood up and called Pearl an selfish a-hole who ruined his job.
The only one who ruined Mike Hamilton's job....was Mike Hamilton.
It just said he committed a violation, which was true. It's another sign that he just simply can't follow the rules. I don't feel too sorry for him considering he's going to receive his salary till the end of June and then $50k per month for a year following.
Explain something to me here. Wasn't he violating the terms of his contract? Did he not even have a contract in place due to the NCAA violations? He was working without a contract, right? Why are we in a buyout situation?
It seems to me that we shouldn't owe him anything other than what he was working for after the NCAA violations. Where does all this buyout stuff come into play going by what's happened? I don't get it! It seems every single coach that comes through UT is always on a "buyout" situation when leaving.
I can understand the past coaches but why Pearl with how things came about? Why is he still getting paid by UT when he basically had an invalid contract due to NCAA violations and working without a contract. I'm confused. Please explain this to me! Thanks!
UT is not required to pay this to him because his contract has been terminated. It is simply a way to try to get this over with as smoothly as possible. I don't like it, but I understand the reason they're doing it.
