announcement on dooley

This exactly. I wouldn't be excited about the others. That's just me though. There are a few others that I like after the three you mentioned also.

I would love to have Peterson or Shaw, but they're about as likely as Harbough deciding he's leaving SF to come here.

I just don't think we can afford to go with anyone who hasn't proven he can win all the time (while coaching, eating, sleeping, pooping...) at a high level.

The recruiting is very important, but I'd rather have a proven winner with lesser players than a proven recruiter who has yet to win at a high level. My $.02...

I don't care what anyone else thinks, I think Strong is a good coach (and still getting better) and I would be very happy with him as our next coach.

I know hes gone, but people predicting when dave hart gives him the pink slip and announcing it as fact is freaking hilarious! IDIOT!!

Everyone knew he was gone but was just having fun guessing the actual time it would be announced. Calm down! Take a chill pill, nancy!

Hopefully someone is hired that will create instant excitement. I'm afraid if it's another "we'll see how he does" hire, the program will never recover.

The other two are nothing to crow about either. Strong, Golden, and Fisher are very weak options. Patterson and Peterson are names Id rather be hearing.

I would do cartwheels down the street for either of them lol...That would not be a pretty site!...But it would be worth it! :)

Larry don't be a stranger. Your info is always appreciated. Do you get the impression it will be a quick search or will the job be open for a little while?

expect to go into december... you can never tell but won't get far until some of these prospects seasons are over. he knows Fisher and if he is really a candidate, not available to talk to Dave until after 12/1

I know you are relaying info and I appreciate it but what is the infatuation with Golden. He should not even be mentioned for this job. I know he is being considered but I'm at a loss why.

Well, I really question is ability to recruit in this league and above all else, Tennessee needs a proven recruiter as HC. Not sure one will be chosen and that would be my concern. When you get past the rock star and a couple of others, most of those on list are very affordable. Golden makes 1.6 and Mora makes 1.25.. but can they recruit

LWS,
In your opinion, which coaches on the list are the best recruiters or could carry their weight in this league?

oh brother, if were trying to get a homerun hire and looking to beat a 1.25MM and 1.6MM salary..were not serious about Gruden, or someone on par with Saban, Meyer, Stoops..They are in the $5MM range

Golden is at one of the hotbeds for recruiting in the nation...I could recruit at Miami...And he still sucks as a coach with all that talent

Fisher and Strong have been in league for several years so they understand how cut throat and intense it is. I think those are the best 2 easily of what is on the list. Will that be able to translate it at Tennessee? That question can't be answered until someone is here and trying to do it.

IMO, Gruden is the home run. after that, there is no home run. they pull him or after that go for who you think is best guy. Stoops ain't coming and is only other one on the hot lists who might qualify as home run.

don't go paying someone 4 or 5 million and think that means you made a home run hire because you would not have. IMO

take Patterson. it would take 4 million to get him and no one has a clue if he can recruit here. too much risk, for the money IMO

If UT goes on the cheap I hope they are at least able to afford Mora JR. More than likely he will get a nice raise at UCLA after this season so UT would have to pony up to his pay scale which will be at least $2mil. That said I still say it's Chucky.

LWS,

What % are you that Gruden will be our next head coach? You were 10% then 5%, is it still at 5%?
