Another bad apple (George Floyd case)

What I think is happening. They got the autopsy results back and he died from something they can't tie to the knee on his neck and they are scrambling to figure out what to/how to charge them with something they can convict because they knew from the jump that a not guilty verdict would lead to Minneapolis burning.

I'm not a doctor. But looking at the video, he was alive and begging for his life while he was on the ground and when they finally picked him up and rolled him into the ambulance he looked pretty F'n dead. If it wasn't the actions of LEO that killed him, they are going to have to present a really strong case...because the video is pretty compelling.

This is at least plausible. Some questions I'd have;

Even if not "directly" linked could the sustained knee hold and ignoring of statements of respiratory distress still be considered contributory?
Even if medically there isn't a particularly good tie to the death wouldn't there still be room for gross procedural misconduct? (it's my understanding there's already been a statement made that how the arrest was handled was not within established guidelines)

Of course, it's possible that anything short of manslaughter would be insufficient to appease those looking for a reason.

Prosecutors thinking they may have trouble convicting is the only thing I can think of as to why they haven't made arrests.

Fact is, todays cops are encouraged to do this by the leadership. Our leaders dont want to govern, they want to rule and they'll use every means necessary. The police, especially in more liberal ciries, have grown a culture of violence. This is a result of a godless society.

No argument from on that. I just think there has to be something evidence wise the prosecution has a problem with.

Rioters that throw stuff at the cops and set fires and show any kind of resistance aren't arrested by LEO, but the press crew just doing their jobs are arrested live on TV. What a wonderful system.
Law enforcement knows any action they take against rioting will just be perceived as racist and will likely be met with physical attacks.

Once law enforcement believes local govt no longer has their back, they're just showing up to collect a check. They're not going to actually do the job with any risk to themselves.

Shooting of Justine Damond - Wikipedia

This is the case of a white woman shot by a black police officer in Minneapolis. According to Wikipedia it happened in July 2017 and a warrant for the officer's arrest wasn't issued until March 2018. So it may take awhile before warrants are issued.

I listened to an interview of the MN AG this morning and the way he was avoiding questions about why no arrests yet lead me to believe there is a problem.

Since it's my understanding the DOJ/FBI are now involved could that be slowing that process a bit?

I think they are just being extra careful to make sure every single duck is in a row. The police officer getting off on a technicality then being protected by double jeopardy would be the worst possible outcome. Given the union and high profile of this case, I'm sure he will get really good representation.

It really won't matter much if the arrestee had a prior mitigating medical condition.
The officer did absolutely nothing to help this guy. Once he stopped talking, stopped breathing, he is obligated to do everything possible to get him breathing again. Once the suspect is taken into custody the officer becomes responsible for his physical well being. The officer did not make any effort at CPR or even check for vital signs. He showed nothing besides indifference.

The video will be dissected in court and you can bet the prosecution will note when the arrestee stopped talking/stopped breathing/lost consciousness and the minutes will be documented to show how long the officer continued to keep his knee on the back of his neck until they moved him, once the ambulance arrived.

His lack of concern will be on full display. His prior training on Use of Force; all other relevant Department GO's/Procedures/CPR will be presented. It will be very telling.

Good luck with that jury.

This is dripping with irony.

Might want to check the law on dispersal orders during a riot

Again - gag.

The same reporter is doing the same right now on the air and nothing is happening.

Did you even watch the video? There is footage of the reporter literally asking the officer where they can report from and they will move. They did not get an answer and just got arrested. The police department released a statement saying they were released once they were confirmed to be reporters. That is a LIE. They had credentials and a camera crew reporting live on the air and they were showing IDs and explaining what they were doing. At best, the officers making the arrest and not being able to determine that until after they were arrested is stupid.

Can you for once, just admit that some of these police officers are complete and utter morons that probably shouldn't have the power they wield? The immediate defense of these yahoos is part of the problem. Just say there is a f'n problem with police.

Once arrested, there is a clock that starts regarding court (see 6th amendment). I'm pretty sure they are investigating this to have a solid as possible case before going to court. The officers have a right to union rep and that can complicate such matters. They need to be interviewed by theFBI/I/A/State Investigators. The Mayor firing them on the spot actually hindered this process because while employed they can be compelled to give a statement. Refusal to do so could result in discipline up to and including termination of employment. Ooops, too late, now. One could only hope that their version of events were obtained before their termination.

There's a lot of other stuff that goes into all this, the officers are known, they are not a flight risk and are unlikely to commit further offense, so it makes sense to get as much as you can, as quickly as you can before putting them into a position where you have a deadline to follow-up leads/evidence.

The CNN arrests are ridiculous. But I am dubious it was an impromptu arrest. I believe they knew they would be arrested and decided it made for good television. Kinda like Anderson Cooper reporting from a flooded hole or Mike Seidel pantomiming strong winds.

It's amazing - there are people in this thread right now defending the cops here. The deafness and stupidity is surreal.

We’re they given an order to move “ before “ the camera started rolling on them telling the police they would move to wherever they wanted them to ? That’s my question. I learned my lesson when I prejudged that kid that supposedly mocking the Indian dude with the drum . I won’t be guilty of that again .

Watch the video. The crew offered to move to a location where they could report from. They provided credentials. The end result is a black guy being arrested live on television, the governor making an apology, and the crew back reporting and doing the same thing this morning.

It is a cluster**** situation. The police, again, were 100% totally in the wrong here at worst, and 100% tone deaf and stupid at best. Yet here you are, giving what if's and apologizing for it. Unreal.

You sure are hung up on the governor making an apology. WGAF.

If there was nothing done wrong and this is a simple matter of "brushing up on dispersal orders" I doubt he would be making an apology.

And you sure are trying not to address any of the other points here. These cops are morons, plain and simple.

I watched it ..twice . Before the cameras were rolling where they were trying to ask where the cops wanted them , were they told to clear out ? Again , that’s my question . Take any pic or vid and look at the before then after to find the truth .
