Another set of transfers

The saviors of the Lady Vol program, at least for next year, are Diamond, Russell, Cooper, Nard, Middleton, Jackson, Green, (Unless there is a mircule, Courtney and Harris sets this one out, with Courtney making some minor contributions.), contributions from the crop coming in ( Though one might even crack the starting lineup) and oh yea, the coaching. If the exlerienced players and coaching can't make it happen, then we are back to, "Wait until next year and discussing who will replace Holly." At bare minimum next year, the Lady Vols are a top five team in talent. I really do not see room for any excuses or placing pesssure on the new recruits to make major contributions, like right now, or the program is headed to hell in a handcart.

I agree. Everyone is talking about the freshmen coming in, but the team will live/die by what Diamond, Jaime and Mercedes brings to the table. None of the freshman will be supplanting any of these players as the "go to" players in their first year.

Anastasia or Evina probably have the best opportunity to be major contributors if they can supplant Cooper/Middleton as the lead PG on the team, but it's unlikely that the remaining freshmen will have roles larger than "bench depth" while the Big Three continue to carry the team.

Baylor Beterice has left baylor. I knew baylor would endure transfers it was too crowded and not enough of a gap between classes

Why is this in the thread about transfer athletes LOL. However, since you did place this in the thread I guess your ability to spell is going right along in that basket to hell with the program ? LOL

Yes, I have misspelled a word or two, several times. I am not perfect like yourself, by all means please excuse me. I wanted to give a smart Azz answer but sometimes you have to be a cut above a wanna be smart Azz.

I'm surprised by Beatrice, because Baylor graduated two post players this year and didn't have any post recruits coming in. It would have been her, Cox and Brown, and all of them would have seen at least 25 min per game.

From the reporting, it sounds like she wants to stay closer to home. This is a big loss for Baylor because they don't have a backup in case either of their posts get in foul trouble.

With all the announced transfers, it will be interesting to see what happens with the JUCO and 4th year grad student sweepstakes.

Ok since you didn't wanna give a smart AZZ answer how about one that answers the question ? Why did you post that in a thread about transfers? So no I'm not letting you hijack a thread I started to be useful and fun. Keep that negative BS to yourself !!!

Also heard her sister who was a freshman this year has ask for a release from her school

Waltz always has a full bench. 15 on roster for next year. Three seniors and now a transfer. That gives him 4 spots for recruits but numbers never stop him!

One comitt so far: Seygan Robins but list about ten others . He is capable of signing more recruits than scholarships and miraculously someone will transfer! 😈

Harris was a complete desperation signing. She does not seem D.1 material and I will be shocked if she ever plays more than a courtesy minute here and there.

Ur very correct about Harris. I have no idea about that player, she can't even catch a ball.

Mompremier considering FSU, Miami, ND, and Tennessee.

Should have come here two years ago, would have made a big difference for her and for us. I thought we were her first choice and someone (Brown?) talked her into going to Baylor to be a power twosome. But now, ????.

IMO she made a bad choice the first time, nothing against Baylor, just as to what she really wanted.

I agree! She could've possibly started at the 4 spot this season allowing us to bring Nunn along slowly, I just find it funny how a lot of these coaches will say & do whatever to get a player to join their program only to recruit their same position the next class after you deemed them to be your star, thats one thing I admire about Holly & her staff they have integrity

Let's not pretend Holly is any different. She's going after the best players she can get. Counting 2018 commits, they will be loaded at the guard spot... and are still pursuing another trip of elite guards in that class.

I don't see anything wrong with stacking the cupboards like you're John Calipari, but the feigned outrage when players you recruited over end up transferring is comical. It's like the students are expected to put the University first, but should be expected to be discarded when something better comes along.

Amb3096 you write as if you have knowledge. Are you a season ticket holder? Do you know for a fact that Holly "pretends" or iare the words you type with your finger just an opinion based on ... based on.... ?

Personally, I wonder how Baylor continues to be so successful recruiting women when the reputation of the University and Athletic Department toward not handling violence against females continues to decline.

You don't need to be an insider to see who Holly is recruiting. She went for a pair of highly regarded combo guards this year to join Te'a and Alexa, and she's got another 4 she's eyeing for 2018. Clearly, she's going for the cream of the crop and there's nothing wrong with that. There is no difference between the net she's casting vs. any other top program. So no, I don't consider what she's doing anything different than what a Jeff Walz, Kim Mulkey or Karen Aston does when it comes to chasing after highly coveted players. It's all the same thing.

My second comment wasn't directed at Holly, but a general statement about recruiting and transfers. Given the ruthlessness of the recruiting process, I have no issue with players deciding to jump ship, but it seems that fans think the students have some sort of loyalty owed to the program even when it is a conflict of interest.

There is a difference, Westbrook wants to play the 1 and although Te'a is listed as a Sophmore she could leave early after next season which would have have her playing 2 seasons with Westbrook and 1 with Massengil (who will more than likely play the 2 and not the 1) Hayes also will be able to play the 1/2 but that is about it, we might land 1 more Guard in 2018 and even still you already lost 1 and you are guarenteed to lose 4 more (and potentially 5)

Green could leave after this season (if she balls out) as she would have the age to go into the draft,

MeMe would be a senior when the 2018 class are freshman and Te'a would be a junior (who could leave)

Therefore in 2018/19 season the roster could be

G-Cooper RS Jr. (could leave after 2018/19 season)
G-Westbrook Soph
G-Hayes Soph
G-Massengil Fresh
W-Jackson Sr
W-Davis Soph
F-Collins Fresh
F- Green RS Sr (could leave after 2017/18 season)
C-KK Soph
C-Harris Junior

So heading into 2019/20 season we could only have 7 players if we don't add anyone else so how is Holly doing the same thing? She's not jumping on every transfer announced nor is she over recruiting at 1 position (Waltz has recruited at least 2 a 4/5 player in his last 4 recruting classes as well as multiple PGs) Same thing with Freese all she needed was a PG and a Post and yet she landed 6 players and ended up having 3 transfer so far and didn't land much of anything in 2017,

I think too many coaches are thinking that stacking talent is a way to beat Geno but as Vic, Tara, and Muffet has proven the past few years it isn't top talent is having a team who plays together and not just have the Top talent

Looking at that roster we need a couple post players. Mompremier could be one and hopefully we get one in this 2018 class.

McCoy is not coming to SC. McCoy wants to play like W/F or stretch-4.. and she's not athletic or skilled enough offensively to be a stretch-4 in our offense. We already have a stretch-4 on our roster in Harrigan, another one coming in the fall (LaDazhia Williams), and we're feeling good about NaLyssa Smith in 2018. Wilson had those dreams too but was willing to change.. McCoy isn't changing I sense. She's going to find a team that's going to let her play how she wants and that's not SC. Plus, the whole package deal thing isn't going to work this time around either.. didn't the first time and it won't now, especially with SC now being a more desirable location for recruits.

I would be SHOCKED if she ended up at SC. Besides, rumor has it SC is looking at Jessica Shepard.

Ironic that Tory wants to be a 4 or more of outside!!!

Since Mercedes is staying.... Tory could have played the four at least for these last two years. If she had come here!!!

But her choice .... now live with it. 😈

Her wanting to play with her sister (whether it is her decision or not) is to her detriment imo, her sister isn't the same caliber of player which means they will have to end up at a small school unless another school is willing to take both but her sister sits/only plays garbage minutes like Kelsey Mitchell's sister (although she may see significant time this season with the players they lost/transfered out)

I didn't mean anything towards her little sister but the fact that she wants to be a stretch four and the chance to come to UT with Mercedes as the main five. She should have stepped right in as the four for those two years. Surely she saw that but maybe not ?
