Another start to the school year, another shooting; nothing will change

So if a parent is warned that their kid is a nut job, threatening to commit mass murder and they do nothing the parents are off Scot free as long as the kid doesn’t use one of their guns? Am I understanding you correctly?
No, you are not understanding it in the least.

No, it depends on what they do or don't do.

But surely, if a parent is told by officials that the kid is believed to have made threats, then ad long as that kid is under your roof, and you CHOOSE to keep guns under that same roof, it's on you to keep the kid from having any possible way to obtain them.

Imagine that you are the parent of a child who is murdered in a school shooting amd you find out that the shooter made threats a year ago, his parents knew, and his parents kept guns in the house, one of which was used to murder your child. I have zero doubt you'd want those parents, correctly, held in prison for a very long time.

Imagine finding out there were threats made directly to the school hours before the shooting and the admin did nothing.

A bit different than affirmatively having guns in the house with a child who made threats.
Not at all. You went back a year yet the school had a valid threat that day and did nothing. If the kid told their parent they were going to shoot someone that day then it would be similar. The abstract presence of a gun does not make the threat real

Are you insinuating that this happened yesterday?
Insinuating? No, I'm using actual reports from law enforcement
Apalachee High School had received a phone threat earlier in the morning warning that there would be shootings at five schools and that Apalachee would be the first, multiple law enforcement officials told CNN.

What would be your guess of the number of threats that the average high schools deals with yearly?

Another tool like what?
Chainsaw, ice pick, baseball bat, hammer, throwing knives, crossbow, rat poison, machete, nail gun, pipe wrench, rock, screwdriver, garret, candlestick, steak knife, or any one of a hundred other implements used to kill.
Do you REALLY think firearms are the only tool that can cause death?

Don’t know; but I guarantee that it is less than the number of gun owners in the community who go the entire year without committing a crime. On which do you think our resources would be better spent?

I don’t disagree with you on holding parents responsible for being irresponsible. What I’m trying to figure out is where you (LG) draws the line.

So far per your own posts the parents are only responsible if their kid uses one of their guns to commit mass murder and not responsible if the kid uses something else in the house. Is that your position?

4 dead, 9 wounded. What's this, the second full week of school ? Off to a strong start with the NRA body count total for the year.

Shooter reporter 14 years old. A 14 year old able to obtain a gun. Sheesz.

At least this one will result in some sensible reforms. Except it won't.

Nothing will change until your government school system and fed gov stop being pagans and atheists. To blame the NRA s pathetic. You continue to surprise me with how low you can go. You claim to be a lawyer, but I didn't think lawyers could be that pathetic

And no one thinks that

What if the kid uses another tool? Same consequences for the parents?
Yes. My kid is my property and my responsibility. Obviously it’s not black or white and I get that, but if you have law enforcement warning you and you fail your child, you should be held responsible.
