I think if they could implement more of Milton with a bit of Tebow run game option would be interesting to see. Don’t know if that “scheme” is part of Golesh’s repertoire but Milton has the size and speed to truck people.
I don’t think he has it upstairs. He was staring down receivers and holding the ball way to long last night. He also should have kept the ball on a couple of zone reads. He could have run for ever . I like the kid and I am cheering for him . I am just not sure he has the instincts to be a great quarterback at this level. It’s not like he’s a raw freshman that needs to get coached up. He’s an old college student that’s been coached up by quality coaches for four years. Nothing has changed with the performances. At some point it’s just validating the definition of insanity. If he didn’t have a cannon attached to his right shoulder he’d probably be out of football.
Without Hooker, we're 7-5 this season. The specifics have been discussed, but Milton just doesn't have "it".
I can understand Milton not running last night but next year he is going to have to be willing and able to run some for him to have success. If teams don’t have to respect his ability to run things will get tough on him. But I think Milton will be improved, but I do expect Nico and Jackson to continue to push which is a good thing for everybody. Our quarterbacks are in good hands with this staff. Anyone who thinks Tennessee will win 8 games or less in 2023 is a certified Negavol in my opinion. I think Tennessee will be winning 9-10 games every season from here on out with CJH.
I don’t think we do either . . . and I hope I’m wrong. He seems like a good kid and I have a lot of respect for any player that doesn’t automatically look to transfer out when he loses the starting job.I don't think it's out of the question to assume we would have been 8-4 or maybe 7-5 without Hooker this season. Our roster isn't a 10-2 SEC caliber. We'll be closer next season to being a consistent 9-10 win program, but it's obviously uncertain whether or not we'll have the leader and playmaker we need at QB. At least until Nico is ready. I don't think we win 9-10 games with Milton at QB. Just my opinion.
Florida, Pitt, Bama, UGA, LSU, South Carolina, would have all been losses if Milton was @ QB.I don't think it's out of the question to assume we would have been 8-4 or maybe 7-5 without Hooker this season. Exactly and as many of us have said in other threads, he’s just not a game day player or SEC level QB. People are in total denial if they can’t accept that by now. He is simply a roll-over insurance policy at this point. I think Heupel is smart enough to know for the program and his coaching career, Joe must not be the QB next year.Milton just doesn’t have it - anyone can see he is not accurate, repeatedly over throws open receivers and he hasn’t fixed that by now he isn’t able to do so.
