Any chance Tayven Jackson beats out Milton next spring?

Looking for opinions and conversation. Nat anyone that really knows, because no one really knows.
Milton cannot go thru his progressions, he has no touch and barely runs. He’s not even a dual threat. His only success will be Heupel scheming guys open and if he can hit them or not. 8 wins max if he’s QB1. Not being a Negavol either. Half this year was the scheme and the other half was HH making plays. I actually liked how Tayven looked in limited time this year and was pretty shifty as a runner. I think this spring will be Interesting to watch OP.
Please fix the title of this thread.

People need to calm down on the Milton stuff. He’s not Hendon Hooker. We will never see another Hooker. Ever. The offense will take a step back regardless of who is at QB.

This was Milton’s first meaningful snaps in over a year. And it was pouring down rain. I don’t know what he will be, but to write him off over tonight is crazy.
Tonight is only part of his body of work. Having said that, he looks just like the Milton who lost the job to Hooker. He is who he is. We need a quality guy from the portal.

I posted this in the game thread, but that's probably not the right spot for this question. Milton doesn't look any better than last year in this Candy game,. I don't see us doing very well against decent or better teams next year without improvement from Milton or a different QB1. It just doesn't seem like Milton is going to change. Love the talent and the personality, but I just don't think he's a QB in actual game situations.

Any chance Traven Jackson can win out the QB1 spot next spring and give Nico a year or two to get some size on him. Jackson was a 4 star recruit, correct? Is he good enough to compete with Milton in the spring? Will Heupel give him a fair opportunity?

I was disappointed on all the long pass misses from Milton. I was hoping he had got much better, but looks almost the same as when he was the starter. He missed most all of the long passes. If Milton starts imo we need to use him much more running the ball to make up for downfiled pass misses.

Simpson ain't coming. He had his chance!

And why do you think either one will be better than what we already have on our roster. My understanding is Jackson is a 4 star and nico is a 5 star. Start one of them, they will have 2 or 3 should be easy games and let them gain experience from that. Texas A&M after changing qb looks like a totally different team, Freshman qb I think his 3rd start.

After thinking about this some more, I say open competition next spring, and if Milton wins out in practice, start him, but if his in game performance is the same as it is now make a change and do it quickly.

Things like this get worked out during practice, or should be resolved. Best man in practice wins out until proven they can't perform in game time. It's why you have coaches running the show instead of fans at the corner bar.

Anyone who thinks Tennessee will win 8 games or less in 2023 is a certified Negavol in my opinion. I think Tennessee will be winning 9-10 games every season from here on out with CJH.
Only reason I haven't put you on ignore is I want to see it when someone tells you to stfu.

Milton had all day and missed a wide open receiver. Threw a bullet when he didn't need to. Should've been a TD. No way to sugar coat that throw.
And he had a sure TD hit Keyton in the hands and he dropped it. You can nitpick both ways. We beat a team coming off wins over Florida and Kentucky 56-0 with their bowl season on the line. Get over the nitpicking and enjoy the 10 wins and the team we have.

Everyone throws around the statement that JM has a ton of talent. Simply being able to throw a football really far isn’t QB talent. What other skills does he have that I may be missing? Accuracy and processing speed are the two most important attributes that contribute to QB talent . . . IMO. Without those two things there really isn’t much talent.

Go to 1:22:05 on Freaks video. He certainly could've put it more on his body, but not closing to being a bullet.

Give it up. It was a bulltet and yes I watched what you said. He just doesn't have the ability to throw with touch.

It seems only 2 people realized I was being sarcastic last night in this thread 🙄😳.

Uhm...yeah. Joe ain't IT haha.

To listen to so many of you all flat out be in denial is hilarious.

Y'all are that buddy that swears up and down to you that the girl you like wants to settle down, but she has nothing but guy friends haha.

How many damn times do you need to see Joe miss??????????

Milton was instructed to NOT run the ball tonight and throw it away. He was our only scholarship qb available.
